Is the F-5 and F/A-18 Red Flag BFM Campain ny good?

Hey folks,

 

Has anyone tried the Red Flag BFM campaigns for the F-5 and F/A-18 that ED sells via their DLC? I've never bought any campaigns before and before I go splash out 20 bux, is it worth it?

Depends on what you are looking for, but for clarity, they are NOT Red Flag (ie, large fighter exercises with Red Air defending targets) missions. Instead, they are either 1v1 guns-only, or 2v2 guns+fox2, engagements against aircraft of various type.

I've got the F5E campaign and its decent enough that I'd reccomend it...as has been pointed out its dog fighting practice missions against a succession of different opponents.

 

 

 

There are a few frustrations relating to the AI and its Flight Model and it can be seen as a little repetative...but its good, well presented and populated single player content with good documentation for not alot of $s...I thought it was alot of fun (even though I have never made it to the end)

I'm looking for an immersive realistic experience tbh. I mean I'd even be quite happy if you never got to shoot down the simulated targets haha. But yeah so long as the procedures and documentation associated gives a realistic vibe that would be what I am after. Air to Air sounds great to me.

 

Is there any F-5 or F-18 missions/ campaigns you guys would recommend and where one could get them?

P.S. Jut to be clear I'm new to DCS and am not sure where the community goes for missions and campaigns apart from what ED sells officially?

 

Basically just looking for realism and immersion.

I see there's 2 different NTTR campaigns for F-5 and F-18... whcih of the 2 do you guys suggest? They look pretty similar from the descriptions?

Both are essentially same. Just "reskin" for new flyable AC with voice overs changes accordingly.

 

F-5 one is harder cos limited F-5 capabilities but you feel like real pro. F-18 is easier.
