Hi, recently broke into VR with oculus quest and I was intending to use Bose QC noise reducing headset but I noticed the quest has two ports for external headsets. would I need a splitter cable for the end of my headphone cable?

Also have been thinking about voice attack, would I be better off getting a dedicated gaming type headset with built in mic??

Opinions please

thanks

Quest has two headphone jacks for convenience in placement , not because they both are needed.

Also the built in mic on Quest should great with Voice Attack.

On my Rift S the built in mic was kind of iffy, so I added a desktop USB mic to my setup instead. I have not seen much reports on the Quest mic having the same issue.

Cheers Don,

I was just googling the quest to see about the headset jacks but I didn't know about the inbuilt microphone. That was really helpful.

Cheers

Hp Reverb is my headset ;-) I would recommend it for the microphone ;-)

Cans are made by Beyerdynamic. Also recommended.

I use Voice Attack & VAICOM PRO + AIRIO with my Rift S just using the built in mic and I have no issues. I had someone comment on one of my YT videos about VA as he was having issues, we discovered it was the external mic he was using. When I told him I just use the built in mic, he switched to that and he too said it worked great.

Not trying to discredit dburne just sharing my experience. I'd say try with the built in first before purchasing anything else.

No problem, I'm sure Don would not take offense if yours worked better than his I think it means you may have been luckier than him is all.

No worries. Honestly Voice Attack takes a little time to configure and get right BUT it's worth that effort especially for us VR users. If you don't want to pay for VAICOM PRO just yet, I can recommend D Bailey's Voice Attack profiles he's provided to our community for free.

Btw, if you going to use Oculus Link you don't need to connect headphones to your Quest all. Just connected them to your PC as you normally do and use them as Windows Playback Device
