Sharkh Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Hello, So I have just started to play WW2 more extensively again and realized that while flying the Axis warbirds the seat postion has a slight offset to the right side to make it allign better with the targeting hud better I guess. I would like it if the default seat position would be the perfect center of the cockpit. I know in the .lua files a lot of things can be customized so I wondered witch .lua file at what lines should I edit to customize the default seat postion so on bind "Cockpit postion Normal" command it will be reseted back to that setting. Thanks for the help in advance. Tippis Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 The file you're looking for is your %Userprofile%\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\SnapViews.lua. It contains entries for all snapviews in all aircraft, including the default regular and VR position. Opening that one up with a sensible tool (not notepad) and searching for 109 and 190 should let you find the code blocks that define the views for those birds. At the very end of each view list, you'll find two entries (usually numbered 13 and 14) with comments telling you which is which. Here, you can adjust the default position in terms of cm offset from the default default position. You'll probably have to experiment with the values since, moving in any one direction will create slightly different angles that might warrant adjusting the others as well — for instance, decreasing your X value to move a bit farther back might also require lowering your position so you get the same viewing angle along the nose. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
Art-J Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Mind you, in 109 the default view position can be changed in module special options, no need to fiddle with .luas here. Sadly, no such option is available for both 190s. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Hmm... I don't have the "View" directory under "%Userprofile%\Saved Games\DCS\Config" . I have only two subdirectory there "Input" and "OptionsPresets". (I am using the beta so I am not sure if the location should be the same or its different) @Art-J Thank you! Its good to know but I don't have that module yet. :D FW 190 A-8, FW 190 D-9 Dora, MiG-15bis , Mig-21bis, AJS-37 Viggen , M-2000C, F-15C, F/A-18C, F-14, Supercarrier, NTTR, Normandy+WW2 assets, Combined Arms, Persian Gulf AMD Ryzen 2600x , ASUS Rog Strix B450-F, Corsair H100i, Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3000MHz DDR4, MSI RTX 2070 8G, ASUS Xonar DSX, Samsung EVO 970 SSD , PSU - Corsair RM750, Headtracking - EDtracker Pro Wired, 58" Screen, TM Warthog, Windows 10 64bit Home
Art-J Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 The directory might not be there if you never used snapviews, or the snapview saving is disabled in "Misc." game options. Try to enable it and see if it pops up. Or you can just create it manually, copy the SnapViewsDefault.lua which can be found in the main game folder, rename it to SnapViews.lua and edit it as Tippis suggested. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Sharkh Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 The "Snapview saving" is already enabled so I have created the "View" folder and copied the file to there and renamed to "snapviews.lua". But I have checked content of this file and it seems it contains only setting for a few aircraft like Mig-29, KA-50, Su-27. What should I do so new entries will be created for the aircrafts I use? Do I have to enter these new datas manually with notepad? Art-J Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Take mine, in the attachment. I don't remember where I got it from. Warning - it has MiG-21 FoV edited by me to make it the same as it was in 1.5.x era. Use it as an example. It doesn't have data for Anton, but I suppose you could add it manually indeed (or if you use the snapview commands in-game, maybe they'll get added to the file automatically? I don't know).SnapViews.zip i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Yes, no need to do it manually, just save a Snapview or a new default view while seated on the plane, an DCS will create the folder and file. Here are the instructions for the Snapviews: 2) Save a new default cockpit view Disable/Pause your Track-IR/Head-tracker while doing it ! "Num/ - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Back "Num5" Cockpit Camera Move Center "Num2 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Down "Num* - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Forward "Num8 - RCtrl - RShift" Cockpit Camera Move Up "Num8" Turn Cockpit Camera Up "Num2" Turn Cockpit Camera Down "Num/" FOV- aka Zoom-in "Num*" FOV+ aka Zoom-out "NumEnter" Default FOV aka Zoom Once you are satisfied , after using above key-commands, just use following key-command to save this view as default: "RAlt+Num0" Save current Cockpit view as default for this vehicle 3) Customizing snap views There are ten customisable Snap Views, accessed via a key combination involving the numeric keypad keys 0 to 9. The "default view" (normally bound to numeric keypad 5 with no modifiers) is also treated like a Snap View for customisation purposes, though it does not otherwise behave like one. The default bindings in DCS are: Num0 : Momentary-action snap view (while held) of control panel. LWin+Num1 .. LWin+Num9 : Momentary-action snap view (while held) of various areas of cockpit, hud and external views Num0+Num1 .. Num0+Num9 : Same as for LWin+Num1 .. LWin+Num9 RCtrl+Num0 : Changes snap views to "toggle" mode. Num1 .. Num9 (with no modifiers) will switch view to the corresponding snap view, and stay there until the user selects a different snap view, or taps Num0. Customisation You can customise the predefined position of any snap view, and of the "default" view. Customised view positions will be permanently saved in the game's configuration files. By default, in DCS customisation of snap views is disabled. To enable it you must activate the option on Game settings. Customisation Procedure The keystroke RAlt+Num0 (default binding) will save the current view position against the last-selected Snap View, or against the "default" view if that was the last selected. The simplest procedure for customising a Snap View is as follows: Customising a Snap View: 1. Set your current view up as you want it saved. 2. Press LWin+NumN - NumN being whichever numeric keypad key you intend customising. Your view will briefly snap to whatever the current snap view setting is for that key, then return to your previous view. 3. Press RAlt+Num0 - The snap view should now be saved. Test it by changing your view, then holding down LWin+NumX - you should see your customised snap view! Customising the Default View: 1. Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default. 2. Adjust your view to what you want as the new default but do not use any snap view keys in the process! 3. Press RALT+Num0 - your new default view should now be saved. Test it by changing your view, then pressing Num5 - your view should return to your customised default! Restoring the Factory Defaults: To discard your customisations and return to the factory default snap views (and "default" view), you need to delete the SnapViews.lua file from the config\view folder (i.e. the same folder where you edited the View.lua file earlier). After deleting SnapViews.lua, make a copy of SnapViewsDefault.lua (also found in the same folder), and rename that copy SnapViews.lua. :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
