Please don't reduce the resolution of the texture

Yesterday I heard that in the future update for MiG-21, the texture resolution will be reduced from 6K to 2K.

Can you please don't do that? Or at least give us the opinions to use 6K textures please. Me and my friends use 40 inch 4K monitor, if the resolution is reduced to 2K, it will look very silly. So please consider give us the opinion to use 6K textures. Thanks

Current main textures are actually 8K; with atlas 4K textures. The resolution is not changing. They are simply being split back to 4K sections

No no...the resolution will not change. The original textures were atlased together to fit in a 8K texture. The original textures will maintain their original size from v1.2.x

The thing a lot of people don't get about textures is that raw resolution isn't everything in image quality. How big is the mesh the texture is applied to? How much actual screen space could that object fill and how many actual pixels does that represent?

Modders on the Bethesda RPGs always end up going for 4k or 8k everything because bigger is apparently always better, but for something like a character's eyeball it's a waste of memory for a level of detail you can't see in game. On the flip side, Star Citizen uses a lot of 1k tiled textures (or at least they used to) for end results that look pretty fantastic and are reasonably frame rate friendly.

I initially atlased the 4K textures together to lower drawcalls on materials. Perhaps too soon, since average users were still using 3GB cards, compared to the 11GB Titans I use.

The resolution of my textures never changed since day 1 of me working on the MiG21. Just an atlas procedure.
