Jedra Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi, I am getting wild FPS fluctuations in the new English Channel Map. I will launch the same mission and will get 50-90 fps on one run and then 15-30 fps on another run. Also, more confusing is, once in a while everything just goes a bit crazy and suddenly all virtual processors start dancing around between 2 and 4 Ghz with wild varying loads across the 12 virtual processors (normally they are all running steady at 4.2 Ghz with processor 0 at 100% load), GPU usage locks at 100% (although the card itself doesn't seem to be being taxed). FPS drops to around 9 FPS. A similar thing happens if I use GForce Experience to record the play. Hitting record has the effect mentioned above and even after stopping the recording things do not recover. Observations : VRAM (8Gb) is constantly full when running the map. Physical Memory (16Gb) is usually around 98% full when running the map. The crazyness is slightly reduced if I am not running in full screen mode. It does not do this all the time sometimes I can fly for a couple of hours on this map with no issues at all. It doesn't seem to matter which plane I fly. Recording play using Gforce Experience does not affect other maps (1 - 2 FPS hit at most usually). No other maps are affected by this sudden crazyness. I have mostly been using the attached mission to test, but it also happens in the instant action missions and regardless of what I put on the map. A log file is attached. So far this morning it hasn't randomly gone crazy, so I hit GForce Experience Record at 11:43 (log time) at which point my FPS went from about 80 fps to around 9fps. Only a restart of DCS allows recovery from this situation whether forced by a record or when it randomly happens. Lastly, I unserstand this is in early access so I know there will be issues. My post isn't a moan, but hopefully will help pinpoint general problems. It would also be interesting to see if anyone else was having similar issues.Jedra - P47 Test.mizdcs.zip Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . Motherboard : ASUS TUF X299 . Jedra Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 OK. so I have a solution to this problem of everything going crazy and GForce Experience recording (shdowplay) not working... I run two screens (DCS is only on my main screen, the other just shows windows stuff). When the system goes crazy after a few minutes/couple of hours or when I hit the record button for GFE on this map all I have to do is click on the second screen. Everything flickers for a second, but then DCS stabilizes and I get stable framerates (50-100 depending) for the rest of my session. I can also start and stop GFE Record as many times as I like and everything is good. I only have to do this on this map in DCS. I have never experienced this before on any other map or any other game. I ran a few games last night just in case it wasn't something that had suddenly changed in my setup and they all ran fine. I also tested every other map in DCS and they also worked fine. It's a weird one, but at least I have a solution of sorts now! Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . Len62 Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Hi, Observations : VRAM (8Gb) is constantly full when running the map. Physical Memory (16Gb) is usually around 98% full when running the map. A few weeks ago I went from 16GB of ram to 32GB. Not much time yet with the P-47 on the channel map. However, over 20 GB's of ram is being used, and GPU mem is maxed out.
Jedra Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 More testing was done last night on this issue. I am beginning to believe that my issue is due to the English Channel map and Nvidia RTX Voice not playing nicely together. Possibly due to the high VRAM usage and heavy GPU load that the map demands causing conflict with RTX Voice. I notcied that RTX Voice was crashing at some points when the map was running. Once RTX Voice crashed then performance would stabilise. If I restart RTX Voice while the map is running then things seem to be OK. I had forgotten about RTX Voice. I have had it installed for quite a few months and it has never cause any issues with any games or apps (and it works very well for noise reduction). I'll do more testing today, but I am pretty convinced that the combination of the English Channel Map and RTX Voice is not a happy marriage. Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 7, 2020 ED Team Posted June 7, 2020 Hi the team are working on more optimisations, we still have the RADAR terrain layer to be added for modern aircraft. After that more optimisations can be made. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Jedra Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 No worries BIGNEWY, it is early days in the map's life (for us anyway!). Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . parrettjung Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 wild fps channel map I'm having similar problems to Jedra with wild fps rangingfrom 9-70 plus the odd 1-2 sec freeze. Only tried instant action with WW2aircraft so far. Not running VR and all other maps are okay. (i7-4790, Nvida GTX 1080 (8gb), 16gb system ram)

Jedra Posted June 10, 2020 Author Posted June 10, 2020 Hi what’s RADAR terrain layer? Sorry for being a little dumb It is so they can implement the ground radar in aircraft that support it (early release of this in the F18 in the last update). I suspect they are adding this feature to all the maps and once it is functional enough they can then do an optimisation pass on all the terrains. Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . Gui_Santos Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Here I also realized the map was very poorly optimized, I regret buying it, I hope that in the next updates it will be corrected ...
