Exorcet Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 Ever since 2.5.6 I've had issues with the OB crashing seemingly at random. These are hard crashes where the game will hang for a bit then usually go blank. I try to access the crash report feature but my screen stays black until I close the windows with the alt tab menu. Stable seems to be OK (though I'm not on the very latest patch, but the one previous). OB is up to date, crashes will happen randomly ranging in time spans from minutes to maybe 1 hour. I've attached two crash logs (the later one is definitely a crash log, I'm pretty sure the earlier one is too but look at my logs it seems DCS will make these files even without a crash?)dcs.log-20200611-042044.zipdcs.log-20200611-025929.zip Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 11, 2020 ED Team Posted June 11, 2020 Hi seems to be a display driver crash. Are you overclocking? It maybe worth following my troubleshooting advice below. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Exorcet Posted June 11, 2020 Author Posted June 11, 2020 CPU is overclocked but not GPU. I may have old drivers on it though so I'll try updating and then a repair if the issue persists. I might have to wait until later to try, but I'll post what works if anything does. Exorcet Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 I've updated the GPU driver and no crashing since, so maybe that was it. I should know for sure over the weekend as I'll have time to be on DCS continuously. Exorcet Posted June 13, 2020 Author Posted June 13, 2020 I wanted to say that everything was good but doing a dedicated test session I've still managed to crash twice. I'm up to date and I tried a repair after the first crash.dcs.log-20200613-160830.zipdcs.log-20200613-160850.zipdcs.log-20200613-165622.zip Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
Exorcet Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 OK so 4 months later and I possibly found the problem. It was my GPU itself. I contacted my PC builder and to them it sounded like a hardware issue and so they had me exchange the GPU under warranty. Since then, no issues, but it has only been a couple of days since the swap. If anyone has similar problems, perhaps consider checking your hardware.
