PS. the drop tanks on VPAF 21s screenie belongs to 000rick000 textures, if allowed i will include it (with credits) in the skin, otherwise they are gonna have default ones.

These look great Chimango, however I hope you're testing the liveries in a 2.2 gamma setting.

 

Your screenshots seem really dark, and all RoughMets are tuned for standard PBR lighting at 2.2.

Thx Rudel and also thanks for your work, your templates are great. The thing with gamma is if i go beyond 1.5 is way too bright, almost blinding and unfllyable in my settings.

 

I use gamma in 1.4/1.5

 

BTW, do you have any idea where can i get the real VPAF fonts? I need those numbers, some guy has done these skins in the past so probably they can be found somewhere, i haven't been lucky with my search. If unable we will draw them in Adobe Ilustrator but we rather avoid that time demanding task.

General PBR workflow is in Linear space for RoughMets and sRGB for albedo textures in the DCS environment. The shader and your display device will calculate the gamma, and usually the industry standard is 2.2. Hence the default 2.2 setting.

 

Colors on the albedo texture tend to be brighter because there is no shadow information, and to compensate for gamma correction.

 

If a user creates textures in a gamma 1.4 settings, the colors would need to be super bright to make up for the darkness.

 

As for the font, you'll have to create it. I don't know any font for that military branch. But German WW2 numbers come close.

Oh super interesting. I didn't know that. I've been making everything in 1.8 at the brightest. Everything looks washed out otherwise.

amazing skins!!! thank you very much for doing this, and please - do some more soviet era/cold war mig-21 skins! i would be pleased to see the camo ones of mig-21bis related to soviet 16va based in damgarten (eastern germany) during the 80ies. . .
