I just purchased the Super Carrier mod, and I am impressed, so I decided to create a mission where I can practice and takeoff and landing a F-18C from a carrier using my own mission objectives. But I ran into a snag that I cannot figure out.

I have the carrier doing a large orbit using four-way points, and I have the wind align with the recover zone of the carrier. I used the measuring tool to get the wind direction. With the combined speed of the wind and the carrier, I get the 30 knots across the landing zone. BUT this will change when the carrier turns east to the 2nd way point which will change the wind direction.

I have a two-part question:

Does the carrier automatically turn into the wind during recover 0perations?

If not, is there a way to change the wind direction at each carrier way point so that the recovery operation can be simulation by just changing the wind direction?

It will only follow the waypoints you give it so won't turn into wind. Maybe with later updates.

No way to change the wind speed as far as I know. One way around that problem is just have wind set to 0 and have the carrier steam at 30kts, and that's the wind over deck requirement sorted in any direction.

If you want to explore scripting, Airboss has a 'Skipper' option that will turn the boat into the wind for recovery windows. That way you can have the wind blowing whichever way you want, or dynamic weather, and the boat will turn into it and make 25 knots down the angle.

... have the carrier steam at 30kts

About that. I set 30 knots (in Mission Editor) but it only ever does 25 knots. Am I missing something? I assumed 25 knots is Carrier top speed.

Or, if you own Combined Arms, you can enable "player can control vehicles" function in ME, so during the mission you can change the carrier's course and speed, depending on direction and intensity of the wind (dynamic weather). Try some. It seems to me that MOOSE also allows you to have an ATIS, so you can know the correct weather conditions at carrier. I think.

As you wrote, carrier’s speed should be set so that the wind over deck (ship speed plus wind speed) is near 30 knots (SC manual, page 79).

Hope this can help you.

Have you've set 30kts for every waypoint?

Yes I did. Is 25 knot top speed?

The maximum speed of the carrier is something like 27 knots right now.

30 Knot is the highest that Mission Editor accepts.

Set 30 knots all way points, get 26 knots.

Set 27 knots all way points, get 26 knots.

(I confused myself above, I meant 26 when saying 25)
