I have two questions. The second one should probably be posted in the Hornet sub-forum, but I'll add it here first, just in case anyone can already answer it here.

1st question:

I'm trying to place a JTAC ground unit close to an enemy target (due to the target area layout). Obviously the enemy will attack the JTAC, so I'm trying to make the JTAC unit invisible and immortal. However when I test the mission, the JTAC unit is still visible. I attached a small test mission where you can see what I tried.

Is it at all possible to make the JTAC unit invisible?

2nd question:

I've set the JTAC to designate the target with laser and WP. Now I'm not really sure what WP does exactly, but I assume this stands for "Waypoint". Does this actually mean the JTAC creates a newwaypoint?

And if so, how do I get to see this waypoint inside the Hornet?

My question basically is: is it possible to automatically slave the Hornet tpod to the target lased by JTAC? (could someone point me out to where this is explained?)

Not at my home PC right now so can't look at the mission, but I'll try my best to help anyway. ;)

"Invisible" means "invisible to the AI". The model will always be visible to you and other players, but the DCS-controlled units should ignore it as if it was, indeed, invisible.

If they don't attack the JTAC unit despite a clear line of sight, it's working fine. ;)

"WP" is "Willie Pete" aka "White Phosphorous" and is basically a smoke marker (to which you probably don't want to stand too near).

When the JTAC designates a target with laser, you can use the Laser Spot Tracker function of the TGP to pick up the JTAC's target (you'll first have to enter the JTAC's laser code into the UFC for the "LSTC" if memory serves).

Other methods would be to visually acquire the target or the mark and then slew the TGP on it, or boresight/Velocity Vector Slave (VVSL) the TGP, point the nose toward the target, and ground stabilize the TGP.

If the engagement is pre-planned, you could place a waypoint in the mission editor and set its elevation to ground level. In an ad-hoc support mission, the JTAC will always give you coords. I believe as of now these are always 6 digit MGRS coordinates, that the Hornet can't process yet. But you can always find the coords on the F10 map, switch the coordinate system to the one that is compatible with the Hornet, note these coords on piece of paper, and create a new waypoint from them, easy peasy. :music_whistling: :D

And then designate that waypoint for the TGP using "WPDSG" on the HSI.

Thanks Yurgon, both questions answered

I will have to find some more info on how to actually use that Laser Spot Tracker function, but that was exactly what I was looking for
