RvETito Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks for sharing. But this sounds pretty strange to me: The Indians were hampered by not being able to use the Su-30MKI's unique all-weather, digital multi-mode, dual frequency, forward facing NIIP N-011M radar, a restriction placed by the Russians as the Indians would be operating in NATO airspace. What kind of restriction that might be?.. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Kusch Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 This is true. India's defence ministry has confirmed that the six Sukhoi Su-30MKI multirole fighters that will participate in "Red Flag Nellis" manoeuvres at Nellis AFB, Nevada in August 2008 will operate without using their NIIP Bars radars. Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
Pilotasso Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 They will do that to prevent ELINT from the US, though you cant tell for sure they alredy dont have recorded spikes from spy planes. .

RvETito Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Su-30MKI's at Red Flag? This is getting interesting... "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
