Griffin Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Dude, i give up - i`m not good at old aircraft Oh come on! If you quit, many people will be afraid to even try because even Topol couldn't find it. :D - flew for 11 years (either from the first flight or from entering in service )11 years from the first flight. Entered service two years after the first flight. Nope, not a Tempest. More clues tomorrow.

mvsgas Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 What aircraft we know have "bird cage" canopy? Italian M C-205? P-51A/B/C? P-47A/B? Hawker Hurricane? We can see that the left side glass folds down for cockpit entry like in the P-51 and P-47... In can not be Hurricane, IL-2 nor a Spitfire since they all use the round handle for the control stick... It has a lead computing sight normally found on american aircraft like the P-51... I need to find better cockpit photos before I can tell for sure. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
topol-m Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 The hud is american or at least i`ve seen american fighter cockpits that have it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Griffin Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 All guesses wrong mvsgas. This aircraft didn't see action in WW2.
topol-m Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Ok if someone could tell from the cockpit images if this aircraft has 1 or 2 engines that could help a little  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
topol-m Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) SAAB 21? Edited October 31, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Griffin Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) Argh! Screw you! In a good way. :) EDIT: Very interesting plane though. It used a DB605 engine with push configuration and a jet version was developed. Also it was the first aircraft to have an ejection seat as standard due to the push propeller behind the cockpit. topol-m Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) :D OMG i feel my brain is working at 50% after this extensive and exhausting search. Alright here`s the next much easier than the last one ;) Edited October 31, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

zakobi Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 A version (prototype?) of that german anti-shipping missile they developed during WWII?
zakobi Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Or maybe a similar japanese weapon? The engine an propeller looks IMO a bit like one from a G4 betty...

topol-m Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Yup, that`s it. A WW2 genuine japanese guided anti-ship missile. Your turn. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zakobi Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 lol, so i don't get a confirm/unconfirmed on my guess'?
topol-m Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) lol, so i don't get a confirm/unconfirmed on my guess'? You actually didn`t guess the name of the missile. You made an assumption about its origin and another one about the aircraft that`s carrying it. It was pretty early for me to give clues indicating the country manufacturing it - after all there was a limited variety of similar weapons in those years. So maybe i had to say: "No country hints, and no hints about the aircraft at this moment" which btw equals silence ;) Edited November 2, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
