[NOT REALISTIC] Velocity vector slave for tgp?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if asked before, but is it possible to slave the tgp on the HUD? (Like the VVSL function we have on the Hornet). Is something like this implemented yet?

Or is there any other way to slave the tgp quickly to a target which is a long way from any waypoint?

I flew a mission last night where some targets were 20ish nm from my waypoint. It had cost me a lot of effort and time to slew the tgp all the way over there, while also having to scan my surrounding area for SAM launches :P

Ok it got moved because I guess VVSL is not a thing in our Viper, that's fine :)

Still very curious how to quickly get my tgp to point where I want it to, without having to endlessly slew it all over the place if I don't have a waypoint nearby. Is there a way to do this yet, or will something like this be added later in EA?

I guess the easy way would be to create a new steerpoint (or mark point later on) on/near your position?

Ah ok, I was under the impression that we were not yet able to manually add a steerpoint during a mission. I'll try and find out how to :book:

Not sure if this helps. But if you TMS Down while the TGP is SOI, it will reset the TGP so it's looking straight ahead. You should see the TGP Box in the center of the HUD. Then you can slew it.

You can quickly find a target if you point your nose at it and TMS Down and slew.

Ah! That's pretty much exactly what I was looking for indeed

Will try it out as soon as I get the chance

How does TGP interface with DTOS in the real airplane? Pre-designate I assume TGP is set to some kind of boresight if not already independently tracking. Post-designate DTOS TD has got to become SPI which should cause TGP to be slaved to it. If that's the case DTOS (or EO VIS) could effectively become a way to cue TGP with the FPM.
