With the upcoming Syria map, it would be a nice feature if one (mostly all simmers without a 1TB ssd drive) could choose the install location of the different maps.

I read, the idea of uninstalling the caucasus region was brought up almost 2 years ago, so maybe this could be another chance to clean up different installations.

Thanks for your reply.

From what I read in a different thread, it takes ages to load missions if the terrain data is on another place and connected via a hard link.

It takes ages if the other place is on an HDD instead of an SSD ... the hard link itself does not pose a performance penalty.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Rudel is 100% correct. It depends on the speed of where one redirects. Loading times depends on other factors as well of course. My computer's old, so if I redirected over 10Gbps network to my 100 spindles old EVA (or a NAS) I wouldn't notice a drop in performance compared to have it on a local SSD.

Cheers!!
