sharkfin61 Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 With the upcoming Syria map, it would be a nice feature if one (mostly all simmers without a 1TB ssd drive) could choose the install location of the different maps. I read, the idea of uninstalling the caucasus region was brought up almost 2 years ago, so maybe this could be another chance to clean up different installations. Loads do it on the fly! MAXsenna Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 It might be a little cumbersome. But have you tested hardlinks for the time beeing? Cheers Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk
sharkfin61 Posted August 27, 2020 Author Posted August 27, 2020 Thanks for your reply. From what I read in a different thread, it takes ages to load missions if the terrain data is on another place and connected via a hard link. Loads do it on the fly! Rudel_chw Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Thanks for your reply. From what I read in a different thread, it takes ages to load missions if the terrain data is on another place and connected via a hard link. It takes ages if the other place is on an HDD instead of an SSD ... the hard link itself does not pose a performance penalty. MAXsenna Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Rudel is 100% correct. It depends on the speed of where one redirects. Loading times depends on other factors as well of course. My computer's old, so if I redirected over 10Gbps network to my 100 spindles old EVA (or a NAS) I wouldn't notice a drop in performance compared to have it on a local SSD. Cheers!!
