TheMoose Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.44.html After testing the 174.20 I notice more people where having issues with them. Not only for lockon, but all other types of games. I myself never had any issues per say, only bug I found was AA was not working for Crysis. Besides this, all good. Anyhow, I notice these drivers that came out from the source; built especially for Crysis 1.2 So I gave them a run. WOW again lol, (no placebo, lol) I have to say I am very impressed with these drivers as well, even more then the 174.20. Especially for Lomac. They run real smooth. Well that’s for my rig at least, all system is built different. Not all have the same PC/CPU/Chipset/Graphic card etc... But so far I'm going to stick with these for a few. Cheers S! PS: remember to use some type of driver cleaner before changing driver types. I use Driver Cleaner Pro, free at http://downloads.guru3d.com/Driver-Cleaner-Professional_d745.html 1 Antec 900 gaming tower, PSU: Corsair 750W, Q6600, Asus P5K, 8Gig Mushkin, Nvidia eVGA 280 GTX Superclocked 1G DDR3, SSDNOW200 Kingston Drive, TrackIr 3000+Vector, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Saitek rudder pedals pro, Sharp 42" inch LCD Aquo. Esac_mirmidon Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I had tried this 169.44 drivers and my first impression is quite similar than yours. I dont fell FPS increase at all BUT this drivers are very very smooth and the best thing about it is that average FPS are very stable. With previous drivers my FPS could jump up and down almost 15-20 FPS in specific conditions but now the counter is more stable and i think this improves the playability. No sttuter at all, and maybe better image quality but this could be my personal placebo XD.... " You must think in russian.." TheMoose Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 I agree, FPS stability is the key factor with these. It makes for a more enjoyable experience. G3 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 moose: my mate just ran these on his e8400 with 4gig and a g92 gts 512meg went from 9000 to 13500 in 3dmark06. tidy. ps: not a big fan of such benchmarks but its a fair indicator these drivers are doing something right. will now try them on my rig, and see how it goes.
