F1 season open. BMW and Robert Kubica, second on the grid!

What you favorite F1 driver, team?

Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!

I've been watching Kubica's quest to F1 for many years and he's finaly made it! I have great hopes for upcoming season since electronic driver aids (traction control etc.) has been prohibited and those seemed to give Kubica more trouble than help last season.

One of the most important things is the new BMW F1.08 performance AND reliability. Just count the points Kubica lost last season because of the old BMW car's glitches or serious malfunction!

Any comparisons on performance of new '08 F1 cars? Is Ferrari and McLaren still superior?

I was a F1 watcher during 99-2003 when M.Schumacher was on the top of success and he had a furious battle at every stage with M.. Hakinnen:) Now it's not so interesting for me.

Only six drivers finished the race. These are the counted places:

1. Lewis Hamilton (McLaren Mercedes)

2. Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber F1)

3. Nico Rosberg (Williams Toyota)

4. Fernando Alonso (Renault)

5. Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren Mercedes)

6. Kazuki Nakajima (Williams Toyota)

7. Sebastien Bourdais (STR Ferrari)

8. Kimi Raikkonen (Scuderia Ferrari)

[EDIT] Sorry, seven drivers finished the race but Rubens Barrichello (Honda) was disqualified from 6th place because he went off the pit under a red light.

Same as for Vettel on Fuji last year. But both situation should be taken as a racing incident imho.

Well I don't. It's the kind of sport where one could achieve too much by such incidents and "incidents". It's the highest level of racing sports:thumbup: with strict rules and it's non-contact sport after all :D

no favorite driver but...

I like the new specs for the cars this season. No more traction control or electronic engine braking. I hope this will allow the better "seat-of-the-pants" driver to come to the fore. Well, as long as the team he drives for also has the talent to put out a competitive car. ;)

Flyby out

F1 = crap for me.

Last real and good motorsports are Paris Dakar and LeMans24. No matter how good you are, how good is your car or your team in such long time driveing anything can happend.

Too bad that in this year the Dakar was cancled :(

Sounds like lotery. I'm not a big fan...

Speaking of LeMans24 - it reminds me the Paul Newman Winnig movie. One of the best old time movies ever!

"He also developed a passion for auto racing after training with professionals for the 1969 drama “Winning.” By 1972, he was racing professionally and completed Le Mans’ 24-hour competition in 1979. The love of the racetrack would never leave him."

I didn't know that till now.

A bit early but it was a great race! Very nice to see Alonso is on his way back up and great performance by Kubica!

If Räikkönen is "Iceman", Hamilton is the exact opposite. He just can't take it easy and that might cost him the title this season too. He said he wasn't gonna take any risks but he forgot to brake in the first corner. The way he's driving without respect, he does not deserve better.

Gatecrashing your F1 party :P.

I was at one point the biggest F1 fan you could imagine (Tifosi) but after Schumacher left, F1 became exactly what the manufacturers have always wanted IMO and that is a constructors championship instead of a drivers one.

Now I watch Moto GP and World Supper Bike and that is how racing should be. Overtaking happens not in pits but on the track and having the best bike means nothing becasue it's ability of the rider that wins the championship.

Check it out:

Moto GP: http://www.motogp.com/

World Supper Bike: http://www.worldsbk.com/pubb_EN/index.php

You can see every race on the SBK site.

A couple races left before the seasons ends so check it out.

Infomercial over :D.

Cozmo.
