After a few minutes AUTO 5 (sometimes AUTO 9) shows up on the AMPCD. The number is persistent no matter what is on that screen though the AUTO vanishes if I hide the map, and it rasters over the top of any other content.

It's annoying, but I can't find anything about what, or why, it is. My search fu is probably weak...

That appears when you turn the (previous) brightness dial located over the AMPCD. Do you possibly have something bound to that dial in your controls?

Of COURSE I have it bound...and the number it displays depends on the brightness setting. No way to make that go away? How do I manage AMPCD brightness?

Silly airplane. I'm going to write my congress critter.

The message is the brightness setting level for the AMPCD and it shows up whenever you move the knob.

The only reason I can think for it displaying constantly is If you have the brightness knob bound to an axis and the axis itself moves a tiny bit all the time, constantly (or frequently enough) changing the knob position, which then triggers the message. I'd check if it's hardware related (axis signal noise, faulty hardware, axis calibration etc).

On a good peripheral device (Winwing’s throttle panel, for example), you will not see jittery movement with axis binding.

Joystick bases: TMW, VPC WarBRD, MT50CM2, VKB GFII, FSSB R3L

Joystick grips: TM (Warthog, F/A-18C), Realsimulator (F-16SGRH, F-18CGRH), VKB (Kosmosima LH, MCG, MCG Pro), VPC MongoosT50-CM2

Good point! It ought to be good for the price they're asking :)
