What a rabbithole of placebo and anecdotes.
I've tried most of them. I even switched PC, and lastly I switched from 3080 to the holygraily 4090
-Nah!

Latest remedies are cosmetic in such a way that where we before had stutter and shimmer, we now have smudge.
Formation lights appear as afterburners in flyby, and aircrafts leak their own shadows like ink in water.
Targeting pods and screens look like 50's TV with ye ole "reflexes"
Stutters and shimmer, allbeit camouflaged, will remain in until ED fix the problem on their side, or I lowering setting under options until pre 3DFX graphics.

-Yes, I exaggerate. A tad..

Are you using DLSS?

That's probably the problem. You shouldn't do that with a 4090. DLSS inherently has influence on the picture quality. There is no such thing as free performance. Your GPU (same as mine) is powerful enough to have a beautiful picture with good frames, without having to compomise with DLSS. I'd recommend no upscaling and DLAA with your GPU.

Thank you.
I use VR, and using DLAA would mean I chose stutter in stead. -I guess.
Will try again.

No, I use DLAA in VR and have perfect smooth picture. I reduce some other setting, like water to medium, SSS and secondary shadows off, Ground shadows flat. Aniosotropic filtering to 4x, SSAO and SSLR off. Viewing distance ultra instead of extreme. That gives me a perfect VR experience in the Caucasus.

In more demanding maps, like Sinai I get hickups though (to be precise, the ground seem to jump every two seconds or so when looking outside) - but my conclusion is -that DLAA isn't to blame for that.

EDIT: HAGS and Gamemode off in Windows11 and uptodate geforce drivers helped me as well.

Yes Caucasus is fine. I figure the 15 year jubilee include Caucasus. The 15 year old veteran is working performance wise. Our systems finally caught up to that one.

Caucasus is the least demanding map. But regarding the terrain it is one of the most interesting ones, and with Bartheks textures, still beautiful. So in short, I don't see it as a punishment to fly there in VR (or otherwise). However, if DLAA (on its own) was to blame for the Stuttering, why does it work smooth in Caucasus? Since the hickups I DO experience in other scenery are very regular, I suspect some kind of "streaming"-problem.

I don't think DLAA is the cause of stutter. Thing is, now one has to choose stutter ,smudge, or 3Dfx era graphics. Performance has not improved.
Anomalies has just changed in appearance.
