Canada Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I did some searching around and stumbled on a couple of very interesting close-up pictures of the actual aircraft. I figured that if I didn't know of the existence of these images, perhaps a few others didn't either. So, at the risk of being old news, here's the link: http://walkarounds.airforce.ru/avia/rus/kamov/ka-50/index.htm 1 Helicopters fly.
Guest Frenchy702 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Lol, that nav light is identical to the westland lynx...
ED Team Groove Posted March 24, 2008 ED Team Posted March 24, 2008 Just minor differences to the DCS BS Cockpit, like the additional instruments on the overhead panel. Nice find! Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en

EvilBivol-1 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 '25' was actually the specific airframe ED used as a model in making the DCS Ka-50. The additional cockpit controls are mainly for the experimental missile warning and jamming systems tested on this aircraft around 2004-2005. ED is not currently modeling these, but they've said it's a possibility for post-release updates to the Ka-50. In real life, it isn't clear if these systems will be incorporated in other Ka-50 airframes. It appears that the missile warning system may be, but without the jammers. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
airea Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 The craftmanship inside the cockpit is really poor. I guess that is valid for most Russian aircrafts. Instruments are placed and connected in such a way that it almost looks like a home made sim cockpit... There are lots of cables and stuff which are not well hidden, plastic sides and finishings of the instruments do not match each other etc... I guess US aircrafts are much better in that sense... But who cares about craftsmanship and stylish look when it comes to military stuff:)
Canada Posted March 25, 2008 Author Posted March 25, 2008 On the left of the HUD panels, what's censored ? Helicopters fly.
Canada Posted March 25, 2008 Author Posted March 25, 2008 I guess US aircrafts are much better in that sense... From the looks of this photograph, although not as close up, the exterior doesn't look all that different. BTW, these are the airmen that gave a ride to a wounded soldier. There's a FLIR video of the actual rescue. Helicopters fly.

But who cares about craftsmanship and stylish look when it comes to military stuff:) I don't see that much difference from their cockpit to ours. Granted theres are in Русско (cyliric) and have a lot (x10) more switches than any cockpit I have work on but, not that different. When I started working F-16 the NVG lightning in the cockpit was green glow sticks ( a kid you not, granted over a decade ago but still) Remember, when we have cameras coming to take photos of one of our aircraft, the people in charge makes us clean the hell out of them (inside and out) http://www.codeonemagazine.com/photos/gallery/f117_gallery/f117_23.shtml They don't look like this all the time, hell not even the safety pins are installed on this photo. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
joey45 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Things in the military only get cleaned when the get inspceted or in the public eye. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
