I normally get a decent 40fps most of the time in game.

Currently suffering from real slow down in a couple of areas:

- Within the multiplayer server list. I have found that limiting the returns from servers with say a 100 ms ping limit helps, but those filters don't save, which is a real pain

- When accessing the controls menu whilst in flight. I know that it's not a very clever thing to do, but this evening my game stalled to the point of it finally recovering only when I'd crashed. Not bad, but I was at 30,000' on autopilot, so that's a long way down.

Clearly it's not because my system is out of memory (system spec below).

I've attached my log file for review.

Any good ideas?

Hi. I don't see aything in your log other that small errors tied to installed custom mods. Your issue may be caused by an external process.

I suggest you pass the Windows safe mode test. :pilotfly:

  1. Press Windows key, type "msconfig" and press Enter.
  2. In the General tab, tick "Diagnostic startup" and click "Apply" (you will see some other boxes get ticked, it's OK).
  3. Click OK and choose to restart your computer.
  4. Log into Windows as usual, then launch DCS. You will get several error messages since your PC network is disabled. Just click OK until you see DCS main menu.
  5. Fly the Su-25T in an instant action mission and watch your FPS counter. Try opening the Controls menu while flying and see if the game freezes.

Once you're done with testing, just open "msconfig", tick "Normal startup", click OK and restart your system, and everything will be back to normal. Then come back here and tell us what you saw.

I’ll try that later, thanks

OK, just done what you've suggested.

In safe mode:

- Opened DCS, no issues, but wouldn't boot into VR

- Tried an Su25T instant action mission. Frame rate circa 150fps

- No issues opening the controls menu

Rebooted back into normal mode.

- Same instant action mission in the Su25T, now in VR. Lovely and smooth in flight

- In the controls menu whilst in flight, a little laggy

- Tried the F18, sat on the Supercarrier. MASSIVE increase in FPS. I'm normally sat on around 30-40fps. Now 80(ish) with some drops.

- In the controls menu. Laggy. Not "lots" of seconds long, but still some

Implications:

- Bloody hell, that's effective. Has that mode change just cleared out some crappy old links, which were blitzed by going into safe mode and then recreated cleanly?

- Calling up the controls in flight, still results in lagginess, particularly so with more complex aircraft.

Either way, thanks for the suggestion! If that's maintained, then we should all do this on a monthly basis.

Well, that was unexpected! I didn't know trying Windows safe mode could have an effect on normal execution mode. Maybe Windows does a bit of cleaning when one get back to normal mode? Anyway, that's good for you.

Since you've done nothing more, and since I don't believe in magic anymore, I expect the issues to return someday. Please come back here if that happens.

I don't use VR: I can't tell if the controls menu lagginess is global or only affecting your rig.
