In the World Cup mood... :D

While most would just run to the hills, Zizou had a different plan for vuvuzelas...

I was reading a bit on Wikipedia about the M4 Sherman, when i read this:

The 75 mm gun had a white phosphorus shell originally intended for use as an artillery marker to help with targeting. M4 tank crews discovered that the shell could also be used against German Tiger and Panther tanks - when the burning white phosphorus splattered against the German tank, the acrid smoke would get sucked inside the tank, and together with the fear of the fire spreading inside the tank, cause the crew to abandon the tank.[31] There were several recorded instances where white phosphorus shells "knocked out" German tanks in this fashion.[32]

I laughed :D

I laughed :D

And why is it funny?

Let me tell you what is funny:

I remote-released a piece a white phosphorus into bromine (outside), there was an explosion, lots of red smoke. I went to see what happened to the recipient, and then I hear something behind me. I turn around and on the ground there was a piece of burning white phosphorus - thing is it was launched with the explosion and it came back to earth..

Ps: don't think about trying this at home, you won't get white phosphorus anywhere, even for research is hard to get.

It's not the WP stuff that's funny... I'm taking such things quit serious as that is dangerous.

It's the part that they tricked them i like... Reminds me of the movie: Kelly's heroes.

I think the article says that it served a different purpose before it was used as a anti tank weapon. There is no trick..
