Hi everyone.

Quick question on LD 10 use; are they any good against ship borne radars ?

I hit an Arliegh Burke with 2 but it still kept tracking and launching. I appreciate these vessels have several radars so maybe they simply dont hit hard/accurately enough but has anyone successfully stopped them effectively working as a sam platform ?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the Perry is the only big warship with such a damage model for separate areas, but the AR missiles like all missiles in DCS will guide for the center of ground targets, so it would never hit radar anyways.

DCS doesn’t actually model where the ration is coming from being the Antenna plus you can’t actually destroy a antenna so you have to destroy the whole vehicle vessel to stop them radiating

U sure? GR did tests and almost all ships had multiple 'hit boxes'

Also on user planes this definitely doesnt apply, otherwise how could you hit someone and say knck an engne out

I understand where your coming from, but we’re talking about radars and anti radiation missile. So for this case antenna’s aren’t a seperate hit box so you can’t just destroy a antenna and not damage other parts of a vehicle or ship. So you can’t just stop a antenna from radiating. You can however damage a whole vehicle where it stops functioning which I think it about 70% - 80% of its over all health.

The issue is that the DCS ship damage model and the way missiles interact with that model is a joke at the moment.

Ships will have multiple radars and emitters IRL. Air search, sea search, targeting etc. And missile usually have their own guidance radars.

Currently all ships in DCS work on the "health bar" model. so at like 50% health they shoot less, and under like 30% they don't shoot at all. But the LD10 does like 1% damage. And the various ASM's do really variable damage to ships, with harpoons being the worst.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

ah

yes in that case youre completely correct and I see your point

like blasting away at the bridge with no command degradation. or shooting a 30mm at a smoke stack and the ship sinks eventually
