S77th-GOYA Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Could someone from ED confirm or deny that this website will be selling the add-on? If they are, are there any other sites that will be selling it?
ALDEGA Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Interesting find. Simw.com is a Belgian online shop. Perhaps Chizh can tell us.
SimFan Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 thanks. That would be good news !!! I read about the company being based in Belgium. If that is true and they are selling it, I can simply pick it up at the store and let you all know (in Januari). If that European company sells it it sure will be sold the same way (boxed version) in the US. That's what puzzles me. I thought that there would be NO English boxed versions of Flaming Cliffs !!? An English version can't sell that good, if at all in Russia. I also hope ED will either confirms or deny this ASAP. Also, I will call 'simware' on Monday and if you are interested I will let you know. For me (and all LO addicts) this would be too good to be true. I don't really care what the cost will be, as long as I can buy a boxed English version of 1.1. Maybe ED realizes it won't be selling much on the website alone. Come on ED, spread the word. SimFan Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 That's right. Yes you are right, Redbear, However I got a reply from Simware that simply stated that more information would be 'revealed' on the website... later on. This does not make me too confident. May only mean 'the downloadable' version (or even nothing, depending on the goodwill of ED). I believe a simw customer will be visiting that shop to pick up an item on order any day now. Maybe he'll ask about it. LockON is IT ! AMD 3500+ - GF6800GT - 1GB RAM low tatency - MSI NEO2 PLatinum 20" BENQ S-IPS TFT 1600X1200 - 32 bit color
britgliderpilot Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Re: That's right. From what I understand, NOBODY has the rights to distribute a physical version of Lomac in the Western world other than Ubisoft. Certainly nobody is paying for one. You can download add-ons, though. ED has the right to do a single independent add-on for Lomac, before moving on to another product. One idea that has been previously mentioned is that ED don't just have their own download server - you pay ED for v1.1, and then can download from a server close you to. I suspect that something similar is going on with SimWare. It'll be a mirror download, after paying ED for v1.1. ED alone knows exactly how the download system will work . . . . as of yet, this is pure speculation  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Dmut Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Re: That's right. ED has the right to do a single independent add-on for Lomac, before moving on to another product. From what I heard, ED has the rights to develop a two add-ons which use LO brand. That's why they are talking about LO 1.2 and Ka-50 within it. "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Caretaker Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Hmm and from what I heard, ED has the rights to develop as much as they want to - however they only have the rights to publish one addon that is using the Lock On brand name outside of the CIS markets independent of Ubi... how a download fits into this would be interesting to know though :) I'm pretty sure this is what Stormin once said, although I'm not 100% sure anymore - and as Stormin hates being quoted incorrectly (okay, who doesn't...), I apologize if I mixed something up :) Caretaker ED Beta Test Team
RedBear Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 well either way i am happy that ED is working with lockon addons & the next sim ;) D/L or not :D
SimFan Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 first, but not last A second add-on may depend on whether or not the first add-on is a financial success. The best way to accomplish this is IMHO being able to also sell a new 'full version' to new potential buyers, in Russia AND abroad. (to me it still seems like a miracle that an add-on will be available, after Ubisoft dropped out of the equation - Thx ED). LockON is IT ! DarkStar Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 To make this addon a success, people will have to get to know that it exist. If that means hanging a great poster in the mall or whatever :). There are many who don't know about this sim yet, who will get interest in it if promote it in some way or another :D

If that means hanging a great poster in the mall or whatever :). There are many who don't know about this sim yet, who will get interest in it if promote it in some way or another :D That's the thing - flightsims are such a niche product these days that hanging a poster in a mall won't be worth the effort (and money). If you like flightsims, you either suffer in silence, or find the internet . . . . where people will happily blather on about new games and add-ons indefinitely. Option two looks like the future of flightsims . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
