Esac_mirmidon
I know in the Admiral Kutznesov are 4 wires above carrier deck for the Su-33 arrestor hook. But what is considered a " perfect " carrier landing in terms of wire catched? In US NAVY i think one of the most viewed papers in any pilots meeting is the list of the landings score made ( scored about what wire is catched ) Is there any similar in russian navy? Which is the perfect wire to catch in a perfect carrier landing? 1,2,3,4 ( starting from the stern of the carrier) " You must think in russian.." S77th-konkussion
3rd wire as far as USN protocol goes- what he said. Although- you're not exactly going to be chucked overboard for hitting the #2.. Esac_mirmidon
Well i find this info in a Cy-33 russian document. Someone could translate this from russian to english? In the deck diagram i can see wires marked with " 22-23-24-25 " And i think in the text are explaning the right order but i cant translate well. The most important thing is wich wire is the Number 1? The first from the stern or the first from the bow? " You must think in russian.." S77th-konkussion
This all changed somewhat starting with the Reagan,(CVN 76) where you will find only 3 wires covering the same area as the 4 did. I'm sure they came up with a preferred wire for this configuration, but I don't know what that is. The first from the stern or the first from the bow? The #1 wire is the closest to the stern. The gist of the text from about midway down is: To evaluate pilot training a scoring system was devised. The highest score is for catching the #2 wire. Next the #3, then the #4. The lowest mark is reserved for the #1 wire because of its closeness to the shear end of the ship.
