Suggestion to emphasize the late Cold War more in DCS as long way goal for DCS

Exactly, i cant even find it. ED needs to enforce it at the start of the mission.

 

ED has a filter in the mission editor to force only some aircrafts. Has a clock on the bottom bar, and only appears aircrats on the date selected whet star edit them.

ED replied to a question regarding the F-15C in this interview in question 55 at 1:36:30 that they have no plans at the moment on doing a full fidelity F-15C

Yeah, and it's a shame. Yes, it's mostly good for air to air, but contrary to popular belief, it can do air to ground. Even the FC3 one has buttons and knob positions for AG radar mode in its cockpit. It's about as good at it as the MiG-29, it can drop dumb bombs or strafe with the cannon, and that's it. From what I've heard, the pilots don't train for it, and it's not something you'd do except in desperation, but a mission designer could contrive such a situation up.

Exactly, all of them MiG-29, Su-27, F-15 had similar A-G capabilities - only most rudimentary unguided weapons.

 

Would someone say not to make full fidelity MiG-29 or Su-27 because they are single role? Yes they are single role just like 95% of other planes.

 

Following this line of reasoning (excluding some strictly classified planes impossible to make like Raptors, F-35s etc.) there is only one module for ED to make as the only one true multirole left - F-4 Phantom II.

 

All other planes are single role. MiG-17, MiG-25, MiG-29, MiG-31, Su-7, Su9/11, Su-15, Su-25, Su-27, Tu-128, F-101 Voodo, F-102/106 Delta Dart, F-104 Starfighter, F-105 Thunderchief, F-111 Aardvark, Tornado IDS, Tornado ADF, F-117, A-4 Skyhawk, A-5 Vigilante, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II, A-10 Thunderbolt, B-1b, Mirage III, Mirage F1, Mirage IV, Draken, EE Lighting

- you name it, all of them are single role A-A or A-G with most rudimentary secondary capabilities just like F-15A/C.

Well, the Thud was a fighter-bomber. :) Although in the fighter role, it wasn't that great. It did SEAD, though, so I'd count it as multirole. That said, ED stated they don't care about Century series at all, and seeing as the main thing the Thud is known for is getting shot down a lot in Vietnam, I don't think ED would be interested in it.

 

TBH, I don't think that it's entirely a coincidence the only plane we know to be in ED's pipeline is the F-4...

So what after the F-4? Is Phantom going to be the last plane for DCS by ED? No, they will be modeling single role planes.

If the year is for instance 1984, its 1984. You didnt have weapons from 1994 in 1984, they simply never existed. If you want more aircraft, just pick a later year, instead of a spread with time travelling missiles and bombs.

 

But then you tailor the scenario to suite the year, so long as you've got the assets to do so.

 

There are a fair few peer aircraft from the 60s and 70s that fit right in with 1984, what's the problem?

 

Look at the AJS-37, it's a 1991 upgrade of an early 70s aircraft, the avionics are basically identical, apart from the fact that it supports the BK90 and RB-15F, as well as being TERNAV equipped.

 

If we forgo those weapons we have an aircraft that as far as I know, is basically identical to the earlier version. What's the issue?
