Alex_rcpilot Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Hi all. I'd been playing with my Flaming Cliffs for one year and a half till a month ago. When I inserted the LOFC disc for the prompted scan, a warning appeard saying that my serial number had expired. This certainly sounded ridiculous coz this was an original CD purchased from LO official site. I think something must have happend to my system which made Star Force overreact like this. The problem started with ver. 1.12a. I had to roll back to ver. 1.1 to validate the CD, then reinstall the patch. Later ver. 1.12b was released and same problem happend to it. Just now I was told again that the S/N expired, it really sucks. I recalled the day when this error occurred for the first time, I didn't install anything to my computer on that day. My computer has Daemon Tools installed, and my DVD-RAM is ASUS DRW-1608P3S. I don't think they are the original causes of this issue coz they both had existed on my PC months before I bought my LOFC, and for a year and a half they had been getting along well. Please don't tell me to reinstall Windows XP, There are dozens of software I need to reinstall along with it. And it's not so easy to make and image with Ghost because what I need with my system is always quite different each time. I need to find a way to put Star Force back to normal. Thanks.
Yeniceri Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 there are different patches for different versions.. there is a patch for web install version... there is a patch for "normal" cd version and there is a patch for Gold version.. be sure to install the right patch according to your FC.. hope this helps.. Alex_rcpilot Posted April 12, 2008 Author Posted April 12, 2008 Thanks for the reminder Yeniceri. But the version issue is never the debate for my problem because: A - I'm sure the patch is absolutely the right one for CD installation; B - This patch was installed nearly one year ago. It had been working fine until the problem first showed up. If it was the cause of this whole thing, it wouldn't have validated the CD for more than 30 times in the first place.
159th_Viper Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Have you tried uninstalling the Starforce Drivers with the removal utility and then letting them re-install automatically again when launching LockOn? Alex_rcpilot Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 Yes I've tried that several times. Didn't work.
EvilBivol-1 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Perhaps you should try Star Force support at: http://www.star-force.com/support/users/ and http://www.star-force.com/contacts/europe/ - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Alex_rcpilot Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 Thanks, EvilBivol. Problem is, my XP system is in Chinese, and Star Force automatically generated an error report in Chinese, which might not be so easy to cope with by SF personnel. Or is this alright for them?
EvilBivol-1 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I'm not sure... - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Alex_rcpilot Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 Well I'll ask them instead, thanks all the same.
