Vekkinho Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Is that already deployed?! Perhaps some parts of western Russia are covered by S-400 as an answer to current U.S. missile shield idea in Poland?! OK no politics here but tell me Kusch, what's the general opinion your coutrymen on this missile deployment in Poland idea?! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AlexHunter Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Rockets of middle distance for a complex S-400 for 4 rockets in one container only 4 containers with 16 rockets or 4 rockets of long-range. Every ZRK provides a fire to 10 aims with aiming on them to 20 rockets. In composition ZRS there is 6-8 ZRK. There are advantages and disadvantages of having missile shield on our land. 1

Could you please name at least one advantage of having it in Poland...? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2282183016528882906&hl=en "Eagle Dynamics" - simulating human madness since 1991 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ۞ ۞

ED Team Groove Posted April 22, 2008 ED Team Posted April 22, 2008 Interesting thing about the S-400 is that it can work together with passive SIGINT complexes like Vera, Tamara and Kolchuga. You dont need to turn your radar on to know whats going on around you. Also a data feed from the A-50 MAINSTAY can be used. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 One antenna turn: 12 seconds. Radar range: 5-300 km.Mmmm, that sounds like a slow antenna turning rate for that range..... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
ED Team Groove Posted April 22, 2008 ED Team Posted April 22, 2008 Mmmm, that sounds like a slow antenna turning rate for that range..... The 96L6 Radar is mainly used for long range surveillance or for aquisition of low flying targets / objects. In my opinion this radar wont be turning around all the time but simply scan a designated part of the sky. There are a couple of different radars around a S-400 site. Vekkinho Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 More news but few weeks older can be found here: http://www.inteldaily.com/?c=178&a=5910 It's Moscow based so I assume it's the same regiment as in Kusch's pics! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

At least 2 rev rates - either 12 secs or 6secs for low level only. Operating frequency C-band (4-6GHz) Range 5-300km Maximum target elevation up to 60º Maximum number of tracks up to 100 targets Time from target detection to availability of target data: - For elevations under 1.5º 12s - For elevations over 1.5º 21s All-round search performance Azimuth 360º Elevation 0-20º Information update rate: - in the low zone (0-1.5º) 6s - in the upper zone (1.5-20º) 12s Sector search Azimuth up to 120º Elevation 0-60º Time taken: sector search up to 8s Time taken: lower sector search 5.5s Time taken: full search cycle 13.5s Low-altitude target search Azimuth 360º Elevation 0-1.5º Search time 6s I love the names that NATO come up with. CHEESE BOARD, thats making me feel hungry now. Fancy some cheese, Grommit? 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....

Wilde Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 At 3 miles/second (wtf, lol, that's about 10k miles/hour) the missile would still need about 700 seconds (or 12 minutes) of full thrust to burn through 2200 miles. Something is really messed up with these numbers. ;)
topol-m Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Obviously these stats have been messed up. The range depending on the modification is from 200 to up to 400 km for the long range missile 40N6 (twice the range of the MIM-104 Patriot, and 2-2.5 times greater than the previous S-300PMU system). The mentioned "3500 km" is the range of potential S-400 targets - ballistic missiles with similar operational ranges and not the range of the S-400 missile itself. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
