Hello:

Maybe this is a very common question here, I don´t know... I am going to change my joystick (to get another one)

Now I have the warthog, and I´m not sure about virpil mongoos t-50 cm with the CM2 Base (What about the Virpil Alpha for DCS?, because it´s newer) or the VKB Gunfigther (or maybe another one).

I also wanna try to use extensions (not always but I want to have the chance to test it)

The main reason to change is the base, so I´m looking for the best base I can afford.

Thanks

I switched from TM warthog to VKB Gunfighter with 20cm extension and be pretty happy.

In the beginning it needs to get used to, but after the transition and (the bad part) setting up all the input options again, there is no going back.

You could also only buying a base, if your budget is tight. Virpils are compatible with TM stick, and VKB as well with an adapter (unless Im mistaken).

Bases from those manufacturers are very well made and far better than Warthog.

If you don't plan sell the Warthog, an VirPil T50CM2 base + their set of extension: 100mm, 75mm, 50mm that can be stacked or their 'S' 200 mm extension can be used with Warthog grip.

I second (or third) the suggestion to start with a base. When I transitioned away from the Warthog as my stick, I began by putting the Warthog grip on a Virpil WarBrd base, then added an extension to it. The WarBrd base made a huge difference in hovering and even formation flying. Eventually I replaced the Warthog grip with a Virpil T50CM grip for the extra buttons, and haven't regretted it.

I also recommend a different base for the Warthog. I have the original Virpil base with an extension, and it is far superior to the standard Warthog base. I fly the A-10 almost exclusively, so I don’t have a desire to change the actual stick nor the throttle.
