flyingwolf Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Hello everybody, this might have been discussed in the past but I couldn't find any post. So, sorry if it's the case. I own a COUGAR which perfectly worked on my 2018 PC. I now moved to a new Gaming PC which is only equipped with USB 3.0 ports. Once the software and drivers installed (thanks Rudel for the instructions), I run the Hotas Control Panel and I get the following message: "Device detection error. E2: ensure that the device is connected and worked properly". I now have the doubt that the COUGAR could be not compatible with 3.0. Is that the case? And, if it's the case, would you have any hint to use the COUGAR on 3.0 USB ports? Thanks in advance for your precious hints. Best regards.
Rudel_chw Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I now have the doubt that the COUGAR could be not compatible with 3.0. Is that the case? Hello, The Cougar is an USB 2.0 device, but I have mine connected onto an USB 3.0 port and it works fine on it. This is its USB information that I can gather: I don't know why it doesn't work on your new PC :( Best regards, Eduardo For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
sirrah Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Pretty straight forward and I'm sure you tried this, but just to make sure.. did you try to unplug/replug your Cougar? I also had this issue on a regular basis (sometimes it even suddenly happened during flight), but for me replugging the USB always did the trick. (the issue finally was solved, when I did the throttle USB stand alone mod from Rel4y) System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

This is its USB information that I can gather: I don't know why it doesn't work on your new PC :( Best regards, Eduardo Hi Eduardo, Thanks. Actually, I just realized that my "OLD" PC had a USB 3.0 port and the COUGAR was plugged into it. So it's definitely not a USB 3.0-related issue. Thanks for the picture but, sorry, I'm not that much into techniques to understand what this is all about. I dp't even know how you reached that page..... So, I uninstalled the HOTAS software+drivers, and reinstalled all following your post on DCS forum. Now the HOTAS COUGAR Control Panel icon on my desktop has a "Windows" sign on it....... Any hint? Thanks, Andrea
Rudel_chw Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Now the HOTAS COUGAR Control Panel icon on my desktop has a "Windows" sign on it....... Any hint? Hi Andrea, Windows places that sign when a program is pre-set to run with Administrator user credentials or it is using a compatibility mode, like this: On my PC the Cougar CP does not have it, as it doesnt need to run in Admin mode.
