Noob: missing countries and planes in open beta mission editor

I'm afraid I'm making a noob mistake, but the OpenBeta Mission Editor is missing countries and planes that work ok with the main/public release Mission Editor.

for example USSR: if I add to the red side, it does not appear in the country pull down (but OK in public ME).

same with GDR. I add GDR into the red side for a new mission but it is not in the country pulldown.

Also I own Mig21bis, but when I select Russia I don't see Mig21bis in the pull down (ok in public ME). But the Mig21bis is available for Cuba and NorthKorea.

here is the public/stable MissionEditor and I can add a GDR Mig21bis

here is my OpenBeta, I add GDR and USSR to the red side for a new mission.

missing GDR and USSR from country pulldown

and Russia does not have the Mig21Bis

but cuba has Mig21bis

 

also my Mig15bis is missing from Russian plane list too.

 

Is this a bug? a problem with my install? or some noob mistake I am making

Double check the "historical list of units" control. It's an icon that looks like a clock/watch on the bottom bar of the ME frame. When it's on, it limits things based on the time frame of the mission.

YES thank you. that was it. After you said that I remember reading somewhere how they were planning to implement this.

Also appears that it is defaulting to 2016 for me.I just saw now that my screen shots in OpenBeta say "Airplane Group - 2016". I went into weather/time and set to 1974 and tada GDR Mig15, Mig21. set to 1988 and GDR Mig21, Mig29g. thank you Paganus
