9thHunt Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I just downloaded the Open Beta launcher, but it's kinda daunting that I have to set everything up again. Is there an easy way to port my existing settings and binds from my existing DCS install?
Andurula Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Yes. Just copy your "Input" folder from your existing game and replace the OB installation "input" folder with the copied one. I find it useful to make a backup every week or two of my input folder "just in case".
Frederf Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 The sim saves control preferences in .diff.lua files for each module and each controller (e.g. 3 modules 4 controllers, 12 files). These are saved in the \saved games\DCS\ folder. Finding these files in the DCS folder and copying them to the DCS.openbeta folder should automatically result in the new branch using those files for preferences. That won't work if the standard and openbeta branch versions of a module are very different with respect to controls. It doesn't happen often but it can. This will often be shown by entries in the list being shown as red or orange. In general be prepared to undo any file edits that cause problems but thankfully this can be done with DCS open beta running and task switching to move files. You will have to use the "load" button and find your particular file if you want the changes to show without restarting the program. This should cut down on the time needed.
draconus Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 If DCS options are concerned you need to copy the options.lua file and logbook.lua for any campaign progress and flight log. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
