Delta59R Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 I have been away from the game for awhile, I just got a evga 3090 ftw3 ultra, after some test I am noticing an annoying issue. To be fair IDK if this is a issue with the 3090 or its a recent issue with DCS. I'm about to reinstall my 2080ti to double check but wanted to get the ball rolling here first. I use "motionvector" in the motion reprojection settings when I play DCS, it limits the fps to 45fps and typically is butter smooth (last time I played with the 2080ti a month or so ago). What I am noticing is the frames will frequently but momentarily drop from 45fps to 39-41fps and cause stutter in the headset. According to gpuz and task manager I have PLENTY of gpu headroom (I think it was at 50% usage or so) so there should not be these momentary drops. None the less I decided to change the motion reprojection setting to "none" which limits the frames to 90fps. During this test I never saw anything lower than 75fps and typical hovered around 85fps. Anyone noticing the same? Anyone know what's up? Delta59R Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 OK got the 2080ti back in and its BUTTER smooth rock solid 45fps... Anybody got any ideas? Notice how much smoother the cpu graph is with the 2080ti! I advice you to put motion smoothing to always on or auto. YoYo Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Recived Today, maybe not a problem in DCS but in P3D. Motion Reprojection from Stem VR WMR / HP Reverb / 3090 - is a problem. https://steamcommunity.com/app/719950/discussions/0/2995417914201741384/ . 1 Webmaster of http://www.yoyosims.pl Win 10 64, i9-13900 KF, RTX 5090 32Gb OC, RAM 64Gb Corsair Vengeance LED OC@3600MHz,, 3xSSD+3xSSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5, [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor2, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: Meta Quest Pro

For me only "Forced on" works but its a problem with too many or too less frames generates by drivers / SteamVR MR. YoYo Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Ok, I did some test. Personally I dont like 60Hz (to poor refresh rate) but for 3090 you can turn off MR and use 60 Hz refresh rate. Steady 60 fps for me, Syria map test, but on Caucasus is not less than 60 fps too. I think we must wait for Steam VR and WMR update for MR for 3090 :(. Btw. you can set up 90 Hz and take Forced ON or (better) like in applications > Global settings. It looks like auto now. Delta59R Posted November 13, 2020 Author Posted November 13, 2020 The issue resolved itself after reinstalling the 3090, idk how or why, maybe just needed to be reseated but I doubt it, or maybe just a temporary driver/software bug with a new hardware change. Best I can tell the 3090 is good for around 20-25% more frame rate at the same settings. As a result I was able to run better shadows, turn up the msaa and turn up view distance while maintaining the same frame rate as with the 2080ti before. Is there a difference in using one method or the other?
