Zzek Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 According to the NATOPS F404-GE-402 engine thrust is 18000 pound. Weight is 25000lb empty gross + 10700lb fuel ~= 36000lb. Which makes weight to thrust ration to 1:1. According to DCS the aircraft is lack of acceleration and hard time on sustained rate turns indicate that at some level the engine thrust data not equal to real life. As we all see on Viper that its got hish acceleration according to Hornet is not realistic. If Hornet is true than Viper is off. If Viper is true than Hornet is off. To my understanding how sluggish Hornet is at acceleration and unwilling on Mach numbers, I come to solution that Hornet is way off according to the real data. This aircraft is US Navy and Marines workhorse i cant imagine they use them with this acceleration. ED please re-evaluate the engine thrust and give some love to this area.
Tholozor Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Don't forget about drag. REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
Zzek Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Nobody can verify the drag is causşng that even ED. But when its the numbers there is something wrong like the DRAG that dont make the flare on landing. I dont think drag is that much a factor of this kind its obvious that there is mistake in here and come on their physics is not that accurate. For godsake you can launch with folded wings
Swift. Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 To the best of my knowledge, you are right. Hornet is way off. However you may want to be careful what you wish for, as its not off in the direction you are hoping. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
Zzek Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 i am absolutely %100 certain that viper is a rocket ship beside the real thing but i cant believe that in real Hornet is even sluggish than that. I think that and thats my 2 cents "if thrust data is corrected on Hornet, they need to overhaul the physics of the airframe". Maybe they need to when its on beta.
Swift. Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Yeah drag needs a massive overhaul, there is no interference drag calculated for example 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
kengou Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Thrust and weight are only a piece of the whole story, and the numbers being the same does not mean that much. Drag is important and the Hornet is a fairly draggy bird compared to the Viper. I've read plenty of accounts that acceleration and regaining energy is a weakness of the Hornet in BFM as well.
