Hawkeye91 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I can't seem to find a way or any guides about creating PP Targets expect using the F10 Map. Is there anyway around this? Most online servers don't have ground units visible on the map so it makes this F10 map basically useless for this.
QuiGon Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Well, IRL those coordinates would either be known before the flight and programmed into the data cartridge beforehand (on a strike type mission) or would be passed to the pilot midflight by a JTAC (on CAS type missions). In DCS we don't really have data cartridges yet and the AI JTAC only provideds MGRS coordinates, but not Lat/Long. So yeah, the only way to get those coordinates in DCS currently is to obtain them from the F10 map (or from the mission briefing if they are noted there). Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Marsvinet Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Can't you manually create a target in the CAS page? I remember fiddling around with that a while back. Since that is the source of the target points, you could at the very least create a target via the F10 map, edit its coordinates and then reassign target points.
kengou Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 If you know the coordinates, open the CAS page and edit a CAS entry to put in the coordinates manually. Or, create a waypoint on the HSI and use it as a TOO for the JDAMs. Both are possible right now. ZeroReady Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 JDAMs should not be used to attack small mobile targets anyway. If you want to plink tanks tanks from 25k feet you should be using GBU12s. JDAMS are for large stationary known targets like buildings, bunkers, bridges stationary SAMs etc. You would know the coords before you take off. GPS just isn't accurate enough for small targets, you need a laser.
