So I have been flying the F/A-18C on DCS for about 8 months now and before the latest updates (that happened over the past couple months), I was regularly seeing hostile targets change to a "diamond" symbol on the HUD.  Now I get the "IN LAR" indication and never get a diamond.  Sometimes I get the upside-down "U" over top of the target box and that obviously lets me know that the target is a friendly, but I don't always get it.  So needless to say, I have shot down quite a few friendly aircraft at this point (LOL) and am just looking for help from the community it trying to figure out how to now go about determining when a target is hostile or not.  When looking at the target on my radar, it will almost always show it as a yellow unknown symbol, so again, I am at a loss now as to how to easily figure out if a target is hostile.  Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

Thank you for the response.  I am assuming that in that case you would need to utilize the SA page in conjunction with the SCS depress to view what the identity of the target is (in the bottom right hand corner)?  Or will an SCS depress actually cause the symbology on the HUD to change to a diamond (if hostile) like before the update?  Thanks again.

IFF is in a bit of a state of flux right now. Auto interrogation of the Target Under Cursor (TUC) on the RDR page was removed, which might be what caused your experience to change. This is because in the Hornet a lot of the auto IFF functions are controlled from the AZ/EL Page, which we just got a rough first model of. Things will keep changing (and getting better, hopefully) as the AZ/EL page is further developed.

SCS depress over track in the air-to-air radar page will IFF the track.

Yes SCS Depress on the TUC'd trackfile will update the track on both the display to Red and ownship hostile HAFU and give you the diamond on the HUD. Don't need to use the SA page but It should update the bottom HAFU there as well.

When AZ/EL is done, and you have it set up correctly it will be like before the where trackfiles will update themselves with IFF responses if they're being painted by your radar and you'll get the right HAFU and HUD indications without having to SCS Depress for manual mode 4 Identification challenge.

I flew a multiplayer mission yesterday, hostile Mig21s and friendly JF17s were all IN LAR squares on my HUD and yellow HAFUs on my radar/SA, SCS Depress or not. Just tried today in single player, JF17 is till a square IN LAR, but now green semi-circle on radar (how could that be?). Track attached.

Also, why does the range circle on HUD disappear sometimes? It happens in this track when HAFU changes to cross on radar. Yesterday I could not get it back whatever I tried. And my radar could not switch to vertical scan most of the flight, except the very end. Are these bugs or features? ))
