That is great... but I cannot play the campaigns unless I use the individual missions (and maybe payware missions wouldn't work because copy protection). But that method what makes me wonder is why, if ED has a proper method of replaying without any issues, they cannot make that "server" tracks as default ones? Yes, I know you wouldn't be able to see the cockpit, or take the command on the flight any time again replaying the mission (could be used as a saved game... but as the replays doesn't work........), but for replaing the cockpit views we already can use OBS, so this Server tracks method could let us see a perfect external view or compose videos of our missions. I suppose that wouldn't take so long for ED to implement.... But for sure at the end it would take "2-3 weeks"
Japo32 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 (edited) Tested with a cold and dark F18 takeoff from suppercarrier and it did all that I did live (and I just went very low and fast to see if in the reply didn't crash.. but usually the replay track don't take off from carrier almost all times) The problem? 1. More memory usage. You have to run the dedicated server in the same machine, so at the end you use the double memory than a normal flight, for recording. 2. You cannot make some campaign missions to load in the dedicated server as maybe they are protected. 3. The cockpit cannot be seen in that track (but you can see it if you record it with OBS or other recording method) So what I see here is that ED could just make a quick and fast fix for all the recordings. They would just to use their dedicated server save track code in the default client version of DCS. They could just implement an option to save with cockpit view or not. The cockpit view we know it would be almost always different than the live one, but at least they could still use it for debugging. So please @NineLine @BIGNEWY tell ED if they can do something with this, as this method wouldln't take them much time and would allow us create great videos (that would show the incredible DCS to others). I upload the track to let you see it. Have to press 5 times F2 to see my plane. Even you can accelerate X60 that will do exactly the same always. Thanks in advance. server-20210325-165617.zip Edited March 25, 2021 by Japo32 1
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 As a learner to DCS video contents making, running a recorded mission is like making a video from multiple camera, which would be impossible if one does it in real-time, even using auto-pilot. I am trying the dedicated server route but since my computer is very limited in memory, I don't know if it would be a good idea. I Fly, Therefore I Am.
