Jagged Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hi guys, anyone knows which file to edit to slow down the aiming cursor in electro-optical/radar mode? Thanks
Boberro Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) I am really sure that you can't it depends on FPS I guess. But to have really smooth aiming circle moves change controller to mouse! It is really cool and smooth aim then :D EDIT: so u can ;o, thx Viper :D Edited June 18, 2008 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

JEFX Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The key to it is to use the MOUSE! Or if you have one, use a good trackball! JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
RedTiger Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 This makes me seriously consider figuring out how to put a small thumb track ball in place of the ministick on my throttle. Right now I have the axes assigned to the keyboard keys for moving stuff around.
Alexrey Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I am really sure that you can't it depends on FPS I guess. But to have really smooth aiming circle moves change controller to mouse! It is really cool and smooth aim then :D EDIT: so u can ;o, thx Viper :D Quick question: I use my mouse to look around in the cockpit, but could I somehow make it so that I can press, for example, Shift and then the mouse will be used to slew the aiming box in BVR mode? Have I even understood what you guys are talking about? :noexpression:
Jagged Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 I don't have any problem looking around the cockpit, the speed is just fine. Only when I'm lasing my target with S-25L, I just need more control over the aiming cursor (finer adjustment). Currently it's moving quite fast... any ideas?
S77th-konkussion Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) I think I follow you- and I would say even if you could do it- I don't think I would. If you INSIST on not having a track IR in your portfolio... I think I would have my radar scan cone, my TDC/ camera on the same HAT (TDC direct on the HAT, scan cone "shifted") and leave the eyeballs on the mouse ***SHUDDER*** But seriously. Get a track, man. Once you do- you will kick your own azz up and down the street mercilessly for not doing it sooner. EDIT- this all depends on what kind of controller you have and it's current mapped profile. Having a TRACK means you don't take your hands off the controls to fiddle with a mouse, and/OR frees up the wasted stick controls you use to simply see.. Jagged what's your controller and how do you have the TDC mapped to it. Be as specific as possible. Assigned as an Axis (lomac)or programmed button?(profile software ex: SST) Edited June 19, 2008 by S77th-konkussion [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Jagged Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 I'm using MSFFB2, maybe assign as an axis. No setting what so ever in MSFFB2 profile. In "input" config tab just set it to default.
Maximus_G Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 There's a way to make the axis move fps-independent in LO, by using virtual joystick, which axes are being moved by pushing buttons. So the aiming cursor is controlled by the same hat buttons for example, but they're linked with the game not directly, but through the virtual joy. I can make it more specific, if someone needs it.
S77th-konkussion Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 OK- If you have it set as an axis- you can first try to adjust the curve & dead zone settings for that axis. I'll assume you know how to bring these up and adjust. Let me know if you do not. However- If you can- I'd suggest using the stick's profiling software to map the 4 commands to the stick as a BUTTON. Leave the LOMAC input menus out of it. Like I said before- map the TDC/ CAMERA UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT directly to your HAT, then either manually press the SHIFT key (or assign it if you want) to operate the scan cone. I did exactly this for a little while on my MSPP2 when LOMAC first came out. Because of the very limited buttons on that stick- I also simply pressed CTRL and the same HAT was TRIM. If this is what you end up doing- don't forget to clear out the axis assignments or you may have 2 commands fighting for dominance of the HAT. (weird things will happen) [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Smartie Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I slowed down the aiming cursor by using the sst software with my x52 pro, by using the `New advanced command` option you can create a delay between each keypress. I've assigned the keystrokes (;.,/) with a delay to the mouse control on the x52 throttle, makes moving the aiming cursor alot easier, I found a delay of 0.050 works best. 1
Jagged Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 Even the default keyboard mapping ,.;/ is quite fast for my liking OK- If you have it set as an axis- you can first try to adjust the curve & dead zone settings for that axis. It's a hat switch so it has to be a button, sorry S77th-konkussion... and yes I did the same thing, no profile, assign hat switch as Camera Up/Down etc & pressed RWin, Lwin, Alt etc for multiple functions. JEFX Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Here you go, two older threads on the matter : (trackball, mouse, TDC) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=20777&highlight=rugg+trackball and http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=22346&highlight=rugg+trackball [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... Maximus_G Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Yeah why not, is a great idea. I try anything... Alright, the process is as follows: 1. Grab GlovePie here, PPJoy here. 2. Install virtual joystick from the PPJoy, as described in GlovePie "documentation.rtf" on page 55. 3. Run script "vjoy calibrate en (mg v1).PIE" to calibrate vjoy (this is not mandatory, though advisable). 4. Run script "btn-axis en (mg v1).PIE" to get acquainted with it. The default axis control buttons are keyboard cursor up, down and ctrl+down. To make the process visible, go to Control Panel - Gaming devices - and open PPJoy virtual joystick Properties window, where all the axis and buttons can be seen. 5. Customize btn-axis en (mg v1).PIE script, put your preferred buttons there. They would be like "Joystick1.Button1". Duplicate the code (lines 30-50) to arrange the second axis movement (since the cursor moves in 2 axis). Adjust your preferred speed and acceleration. And that's it.scripts_mg_080623.zip
