Fakum Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I just received my 1st Virpil gear, the Throttle is a Mongoose T-50 CM3. Long story short, I went into DCS Options and went to set the “Zoom” axis using the rotary dial on the Right Throttle. DCS does not recognize this rotary yet. So I have spent about 3 hours yesterday, and about 3 hours again today trying to figure out how to get to set this up in Virpils Configurator. I have watched a lot of Youtube vids, along with a lot of Google searching, I cant find a straight answer. The ones I thought I found, did not turn out to work at all. If I can get this dial figured out, then I will be able to setup the others. For this function, does that rotary dial (Buttons 14 & 15) need to be setup as virtual axis? I did attempt that with no success. Where can I get a straight answer? Best bet is to post over on the Virpil forums, there are some very knowledgeable guys in there that know the ins and outs pretty good. 1 Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|
Fakum Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Thanks for the response dburne. I seemed to have managed to set this up and it shows action in the Virpil software but DCS wont recognize it? I went step by step using this tutorial (starting at 35:53) Setting up Virtual Axis, but again,, DCS doesn't recognize it? Thanks Firstly, why don’t you use the ‘normal’ zoom axis, I.e. the slider on the right throttle rather than a rotary. secondly, DCS will not recognise the rotaries as an axis. Just bind them as buttons for 14 and 15 in the normal configuration, not in axes. II.JG1_Vonrd Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I'm in the same boat as Fakum in trying to use the rotary encoders. I want them to act as the potentiometer rotaries in my old Saitek X55. I really wish that they would ditch the encoders for high end potentiometers. I have tried contacting Doabarrel at Virpil and this is his response: so we've checked how to use rotary dial in IL2. You can use as buttons with max encoder delay time. Also you can set up virtual axis, use Joy Gremlin also. So there is nothing new that I can advice sorry. The max encoder delay results in very jerky action and is not viable (unless I'm doing something wrong). It seems that the only remaining option is to make it a virtual axis and use Joystick Gremlin. I have gone through numerous tries but there are so many separate threads / instructions and many are for the old Virpai software . Can someone provide a one shot instruction on how to make the rotary encoders work the same as potentiometers for "Dummies"?
imacken Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Just a side point, he means use a virtual axis OR joystick gremlin. Not and. 2 separate options.
