Losing sound after ~10 minutes : HP Reverb G2

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have the problem, that after some time, I guess aprox. 10 minutes, the sound from the headset is stopping. Afterwads, the sound comes from the sound boxes. Ingame, the USB2.0 from the HEadset is selected, also the checkbox "use VR sound" is set.

Question is, if this is a DCS issue, or might be one with the reverb.

If I am reading this correctly, first you should be using USB 3 for the headset not USB 2.

I also had sound problems with my G2 in the first few days that disappeared with new versions of related apps and drivers.

But whenever DCS lost the sound I got it back by switching the sound in the DCS options to my other speakers, then back to game and then by switching it back to the G2 USB 2.0 you have described. Maybe this works till you find a solution.

I've switched the USB Ports, and updated the BIOS and Chipset driver. now it seams to work well!

However, while flying I stll hear sometime the usb disconnection sound, but have no idea what might have been disconnected at all.

Sorry for the Confusion in first place. I actually did not check, wether to use USB2.0 or 3.0. But the soundcard and microphone were named "usb2.0.."

For those with HP Reverb G2 VR issues (errors like 7-14, 4-1 etc.) or audio dropping in/out, USB power issues (not powering the headset) then please contact HP Support and request the updated revision cable.

#1. Part Number: M52188-001
Part Description: SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W SWITCH

This has resolved both my audio dropping in and out (switching), AS WELL as all of the USB-A and USB-C issues (wouldn't power the G2) to my 'ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming' motherboard.

Now, if supply is an issue to the country where you reside and you have the AMD X570 chipset then HP will also supply you with:

#2. Part Number: M44588-001
Part Description: SPS-USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit

This also resolved the power issues and audio issues of the G2 with USB ports that might not be powering your G2

Summary:

1. For ALL (irreverent of chipset) users experiencing issues with errors (7-14, 4-1 etc.) / audio switching(drop out) then I recommend explicitly asking for the updated cable (#1 above).

2. AMD X570 chipset users (not applicable to other chipsets), you can also ask for the HP USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit (#2 above). However, if you receive #1 then you technically don't need this. I'd therefore request this if #1 isn't available due to back order (as this will work with the original cable)

Photo of both cables (larger one being the newer revision of cable)

Hope that helps
