Hi,

I know that LockOn uses StarForce copy protection, but if I may, I'd like to ask that you DON'T use anything like StarForce!!! I appreciate you want to protect your work (which I've no problems with), but when the copy-protection starts getting in MY way, *I* object.

One thing we don't need to do is kid ourselves that copy-protection works. I just ask that you respect my system when making your choice, and go for something that doesn't affect the rest of my machine. :(

Best regards,

Tango.

The SF of now is not the same SF as 'back then', you know.

Q: What copy protection system will the DCS series use?

I hope so! Sorry if I came across a bit strong in my post - DRM/copy protection infuriates me.

I did see this in the FAQ, but my post was more of a plea than a question. ;)

Heya Tango,

That question pops up at least every few weeks around here, so some folk can get a bit snappy with regards to it.

There is plenty of discussion on it in previous threads, including comments from ED on the topic., and I think you would be better served (in this case) checking the archives / for the topic...it's a bit of a touchy subject.

How does the copy protection or Starforce get in your way?!

I ask simply because I play LoFC ever since it was published on a same HDD, I installed LOFC only once and I even use a same Windows XP install, patched to SP1 and SP2 with time but I never had any trouble with Starforce.

I'm more impressed by the fact that XP still holds on! The only maintenance I used was staying away from malware (thanks to my anti virus, firewall and anti spyware thing), doing an occasional registry cleanup, and defragging every now and then!

But never had any trouble with Starforce!

I heard many strange things about SF, example it corrupts DVD devices. I lost my DVD player, don't know due of SF or something else. But I don't trust SF. I heard Its drivers has a lever priority as same as system or higher (level 0 but I am not sure). Anyway I have no any proof of bad things which can do SF but I don't want this crap anymore. Many people also...

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

It gets in my way by being there for a start, and second, it upsets my DVD burning software (sometimes it fails to detect the disc).

This is going to be a very controversial comment, but anyways... the second reason I don't like DRM is because it doesn't work, and clutters up my system. The pirates don't have this problem, so why should I as a legitimate customer?

I have to activate XP (which now I reached the online activation limit, so I have to call M$ every time to explain). Again, the pirates don't have this problem (and *I* bought the software and *I'M* being treated like the criminal!).

Thanks for the heads-up - I'll do a search.

Tango.
