Theloaf Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 I'm not a total noob to the F14B and have figured out to do most of the navigation (ok have Jester set most of the navigation) to TACANs, and waypoints. However, I cannot figure out how to set up the radios to use the ground ILS? I have figured out how to do it for the carrier from videos online but cannot for the life of me get it setup for ground stations. I was trying to land at Groomlake earlier and had it set to night so doing an ILS approach seemed like a good idea. Anyone know how to set ILS frequencies? I know that once set I have to change the switches for the VDI and probably set the ADE (I think that's what it is called) as my navigation source.
r4y30n Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 The F-14 can’t tune into land-based ILS systems. 1
Skysurfer Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 You can tune VOR's though and do non-precisions.
Bailey Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 You may be able to search for a ICLS Everywhere mod that enable the use of it and the hornets systems on airports. Last time I used it, it was IC safe. Chuck_Henry Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303095/ You want these 2 mods. They add ICLS and TACAN to most major runways. You have to make up your own procedures, vice follow an approach plate, but other than that it works very well for IFR practice in the F-14 and F/A-18.
