Hi,

for those of you using Orbx's Volanta flight tracking in DCS, you might have recognized that after installing the Mod/plugin the Tacview export isn't working anymore.

I found a quick fix for this until Orbx will hopefully delivery an official one. By changing the lua file manually you're able to use Volanta and Tacview.

Open the Export.lua file located in User\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\

Search for the Volanta app line and replace it with the following:

dofile(Tacviewlfs.writedir().."Scripts/DCS_Volanta.lua")

Finally make sure that the tacview export lines are above the Volanta line and save it.

Volanta states in the app that the DCS plugin isn't installed. Just ignore this message and start your flight, flight tracking should be working.

So long,

Snafu

Hi. Would you past a Volanta line here please. I have nothing in from Vola in my export.lua, probably that's why it can't see DCS at all.

Can we get the Volanta line in export.lua? The software will not recognize Open Beta installations or installations not in Saved Games, and must be configured manually, but there is no documentation on manual configuration.

I have dofile(lfs.writedir() .. "Scripts/DCS_Volanta.lua") entered after the tacview entry in my export.lua, but Volanta still does not detect DCS. It does not give a warning message that DCS plugin is not installed. It simply doesn't recognize the existence of DCS at all.

It cant be dead as my friend is usuing it, i cant get volanta to recognise dcs at all though. I have no volanta entry in my export lua file.

Is thee a volanta plugin i need for dcs, or alternatively a dcs plugin for volanta? Volanta shows a msfs plugin in the user settings > simulators screen but nothing for dcs

Solved for me - dcs_volanta.lua file had never installed, nor the corersponding entry in the export.lua file. Now both in place Volanta connects perfectly in sp or mp, im running Openbeta_MT

Great for you - revisiting this - where on earth did you get the dcs_volanta.lua file from and regarding export.lua how or where is it stipulated that this is the do file line?

I mean if it works great but seriously, in 2024, software relies upon users to fix it when it promotes its integration into DCS World?  Wadda loada pants orbx!

Lol, i spend way too much time on the internet doing geek stuff! Seriously though, you look at how msfs and dcs has leapt forwards because of initiatives from members of the community, those who have the time and skills to be creative and contribute to the community, its one of the things that helps sort out the many bugs in complex software interactions.

Completely agree - all are legends in my eyes for doing so - I've been there pal - spent years bug testing, fixing, etc but not any more.  Fact is, all software could do with far more of it nowadays than ever before - complexities, deadlines, pressures, shareholders, yadda yadda.  Thanks for the file, it's here for all and perpetuity for someone to picup and that's immensely good of you.  I've moved onto the 'moving map' mod which is bloody fantastic.  Cheers pal.
