Lange_666 Posted February 22, 2021 Share Posted February 22, 2021 I have this to "from time to time", it always seem to happen when i do some stuff over at my second monitor while DCS is loading, let it be first load or a mission. Only way out is task manager and kill the process (which is mostly at max load then). I have not been able to reproduce the problem on my machine, but seen plenty of users reporting the issue. I have mentioned it to the team, but dont have any clues currently. The main screen i use DCS on is the same (2560x1440 @ 120Hz, it can do 144Hz), my second monitor is a 1920x1200 @ 60Hz max but that's only used to display side stuff on it like SRS, BuddySpike map, manuals etc... The multiplayer mission starts to load (so i'm already in DCS because it went into MP) and then the screen goes black with the DCS logo on it. But for now i have been unable to reproduce when i want it to so i'm still in the dark when it does exactly happen. Yes, it is the same, 3840x2160 (4k). Since the last lock it hasn't happened anymore. One thing I'm doing is removing from time to time "tempMission.lua" generated under ..\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Data and tempMission.miz too as it is reported to be read in the log. Lange_666 Posted March 6, 2021 Share Posted March 6, 2021 Update on this: If the multiplayer session loads SRS from the one of the BuddySpike servers (which i have opening on my second screen), DCS hangs a bit later with the logo loading screen. To prevent this i load SRS now before i start the multiplayer session, then it doesn't happen. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times, deleted saved games folder, renamed saved games folder too. Same black screen. Uninstalled and reinstalled nvidia drivers and am using rtx 3080. The resolution is incorrect; I am using at minimum 2560x1440 or 7680x1440 or 7808x1440. I have tried all 3. Here is the headscratcher: After uninstalling and reinstalling DCS, all my files return. Multi-monitor setups, copies of graphic.lua files... everything but in the saved games folder nothing returns. No options file whatsoever. I had to copy paste an old folder saved in a different directory. It appears to be using custom presets because it bypassed options file and wouldn't change resolution. So I changed custom resolutions and that changed the resolution for startup but still black screen. I also changed full-screen mode to off in the only custom preset that was set to on. Below is my log file. PS. There was one major change before problem: I swapped out 3 (3440x1440) monitors for 3 (2560x1440) monitors. I fixed resolution in options and the main menu loaded fine. I went to setting in main menu and picked new settings and dcs shutdown to restart and black screen ever since. Any help would be appreciated dcs.log dcs.log.old One more piece of info: I tried entering dcs with quest 2 in vr. I was inside VR next to the plane but no menu was present. When DCS gets stuck, i close it down with task manager, then re-open and then all is fine, except TrackIR will not detect the game at that point. Only option is to shut down TrackIR and re-run it before running DCS again. And that's something i don't have to do with SRS. It can stay open. Lange_666 Posted April 5, 2021 Share Posted April 5, 2021 Little update on this: i try to avoid having the focus on the second screen while DCS is loading, either loading to the main menu screen or while loading a multiplayer session. But occasionally my focus is drawn away from the main monitor and i find myself busy on the 2nd monitor. DCS then sometimes comes up with a windows message: Close the program / Wait for the program to respond. If i click Wait for the program to respond, DCS comes back alive moments later. stacula666 Posted April 6, 2021 Share Posted April 6, 2021 (edited) Amazingly 4 weeks ago I decided I was fed up and would open a ticket because I was going insane and was starting to become unstable. Filling out the form of the ticket I attempted to upload the dcs log but it was erased. Next I restarted DCS to create the log but instead it miraculously worked. There was a mix of emotions and thoughts, one was relief and excitement to finally be able to learn and play, the other was disbelief that the 0 n 1 gods were tormenting me for their pleasure. I enjoyed playing DCS more than ever before my Warthog stick and base decided to go on strike and my computer refused to register any inputs. The hornet grip didn't work either with the base so I did an RMA w Thrustmaster. It took a week for them to decide to accept the RMA. I decided to purchase another base to return through Amazon till the RMA was complete but the Hornet didn't work with that base either. Amazon was nice enough to allow the Hornet grip to be returned after 30 days and obviously took back the base which was only 1 day old. I used a Extreme 3D pro for a couple of days and T.1600 but hated both really. Today, after 5 weeks total the Warthog stick and base have returned, working and am excited to return to DCS. I have been playing FS2020 on honeycomb alpha and bravo mostly since.
