Falken2 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 (edited) DCS is usually very smooth. Within Operation Pontus or anywhere else, flying the the F/A-18 or the Mirage-2000, any mission (except sometimes with Syria map I tried a few days, when taxiing on a busy airbase). So I rarely use of watch the FPS counter. I get usually 30 FPS. In Operation Pontus, I'd say when it gets hot with many migs, many radars, locks, missiles ... I have momentary heavy drops of FPS for maybe 30 seconds or 1 minute, which seems last so long. The PFS counter (RCtrl + Pause) says 8, I feel like it's 2. Then it comes to "normal". I never experienced that before. Note : I'm used to the stable release. I downloaded the beta release when I started the Operation Pontus. Maybe it's the Beta ? Edited February 27, 2021 by Falken2

There is unfortunately a reported DCS bug that is related with these FPS drop cases. It's not a campaign issue. You should have less fps loss while you progress the campaign. However we updated the missions in order to smooth it out us much as we can from our side and it's reported to ED. Our fixes should be available in the next DCS Open beta update. Hopefully it's going to be better soon Greg "ARGO" DCS UH-1H DLC SP Campaign 373vFS DCS World squadron (Greece) - www.buddyspike.net "ARGO 2.0 Project Phoenix" UH-1H DLC Campaign - WIP
theIRIEone Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Not sure if the fix went through already or not, but if so it didn't help much and this issue still needs tackling. Doesn't really matter if it's an ED issue or not imho, i wonder if these things really can slip through testing, or if the campaign is released regardless as one can always wave the "open beta" flag (not saying anybody does that, just wondering how this can be released in such a state, really). I mean, how can you expect your customers to fly like that? DCS usually runs just fine with the exception of low level flying over Syria, but even then FPS drops are nowhere near as severe as in Ponuts sometimes.. Issue is as OP described, campaign goes from smooth to unplayable in the blink of an eye - but for me it lasted about 5mins before i just quit to desktop yesterday. On another occasion it was gone after a few mins and i was able to continue the flight. I started recording after issue was persistent for a few mins already.

Is there anyway this might be linked to a script? I get massive stutters (not as bad as this) when online and 'crates are unpacked' by someone else. If no-one plays the combined arms part, my games normally super smooth.. But the minute someone boops into a huey, and loads that crate.. Im stuck in a literal 'earthquake' of stutter. The only other time i get stutters, is with 'ground effects' explosions, clear scenery, smoke etc..

It happens under certain circumstances (during engagements until an enemy aircraft is getting shot down) due to possible DL related issue. It's already reported and not a campaign related issue. You unfortunately get it during the campaign depending on the progress of the campaign and the air activity.
