Hoirtel Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Today (7th March) I accepted the update on oculus to v27 this is currently for the beta only. This update locks the link to 72hz regardless of setting, I had to reinstall the oculus software to go back to v26 (non beta) to get it back working again. This has been reported on other forums to is a problem with the v27 beta. If you use more than 72hz do not accept this update and switch off the beta test option in settings.
AlpineGTA Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 That's strange, I'm running version 27.0.0.27.507 and my Quest 2 is still running at 90Hz. I have the options to run at 72, 80 or 90Hz. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

The fps indicated this - plus I can see slight strobing at 72
paul5331 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Same here FPS capped at 36 no matter what setting 72/80/90hz disabled beta and back to normal.

Ah you managed to get it working by disabling beta. That's a much easier idea. That apparently did not work for some and I was already in the process of reinstalling the 5GB oculus software before I realised that I should have tried that..... doh!

Yes, you're correct, I have the same. I have it set to 90Hz but when I put the FPS counter up in DCS it says 72. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
paul5331 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 You get 72fps I wish I could my maximum is 45fps 1

I have vsync on fast to help lock it smoothly. So I get locked to either 72fps or 36fps which means the headset is running at 72hz. I can get the full 72/80/90 fps at altitude with little else going on (when 80hz and 90hz are working!) Your 45fps is because you are running at 90hz. Edited March 9, 2021 by Hoirtel
paul5331 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 OK I see I cannot get above 40-45fps at 90hz even at altitude with nothing going on I have vysnc set to fast also.

Too many variables in this. Hardware, DCS settings, oculus settings, mission settings etc etc. Check some of the other setup threads for help. Edited March 9, 2021 by Hoirtel
AlpineGTA Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Yes, as Hoirtel said, I get 72fps when I'm just static in the menu, so I'm guessing that means it's running at 72Hz even though I've got it set to 90Hz. I get around 36fps when in flight, sometimes less, sometimes more, depending on what's going on. i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2
Hoirtel Posted April 11, 2021 Author Posted April 11, 2021 (edited) BEWARE AGAIN!!! I am very shocked to find that the oculus v27 software has now been put into final release and still has this bug locking it to 72hz regardless of settings. I have had to do a full system restore to get it back and snoozed the oculus updates. This is very very poor on their part - this massive bug was reported in the v27 beta and they have done nothing to fix it. Edited April 11, 2021 by Hoirtel
jib Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 (edited) You get 72 fps in DCS VR !?? You are very lucky if you do. I have to drop the visuals a lot to get a decent 45 fps in VR. But I can get 80 FPS in 4K on flat with everything cranked up on my RTX 2060 overclocked. I'm not trying to discuss what fps I actually get. This varies. I confirm that my headset only runs 72hz by seeing 72fps in the menu. Plus I can see slight strobing effect all the time, which is why I run at 80hz.
