upyr1 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I was just thinking about this because of the possibility of getting a full fidelity MiG-29. If we do get the full fidelity versions of the flaming cliffs planes, it would be nice if we could make flaming cliffs missions work with the full fidelity modules and vise versa. For example if we have the FF A-10A DCS will load it up when ever a mission calls for a player in an A-10 we might have an option to select a preference for both, but I figure if MAC happens then something like this could help the community by ensuring mission commonality.
draconus Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 No point in discussing far future which might even not exist. Currently you set a specific player (or client) aircraft in ME, not a group of similar aircraft. You can change the aircraft in ME and save it. The only exception are protected DLC missions where you can change and play, but can not save. So if I can play the Mig missions with F-14A now I don't see a reason why I wouldn't be able to do it with FF Mig. The main difference between the FF and FC3 missions are usually just radio comms. 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

This is the wish list so the point to this corner of the forum is to discuss the future that might not exist. 3 hours ago, draconus said: Currently you set a specific player (or client) aircraft in ME, not a group of similar aircraft. You can replace any plane with another by editing the mission, so that's not what I am asking. The issue I am bringing up is based on what DCS is planning to do with the flaming cliffs modules, if they get FF versions and MAC. If Eagle is planning what I think they are planning, then the request is simple. I am under the impression that Eagle is doing FF modules of the planes in FC and turning FC into a separate product called Modern Air Combat. If that is the case then the request will be easy to implement, the line of the mission file that says which plane to load would have to be identical with MAC or DCS loading the proper version. The next possibility is if the FF MiG-29A replaced the FC MiG-29A. It wouldn't work if Eagle tries to keep them as separate planes with in DCS, which wouldn't be a good idea IMHO.
draconus Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Afaik MAC is meant to be separate product so I doubt the missions will be exchangable/compatible. We don't have yet the situation where we have exact same aircraft being modeled in DCS both as FC3 and FF but I doubt one will remove the other and so the missions will not be universal. 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

DCS are technically separate products, but expect they will share as much code as possible, as it would be easier for ED to operate that way. Also we don't have FF versions and FC versions of the same plane (yet) but there is talk about a FF MiG-29A. So it would make sense to make DCS full fidelity and move the FC planes to MAC. Which brings up the question.
