Hi. I recently got the Oculus Quest 2 googles and started testing them in DCS. I don't have a superpowerful GPU, just a GTX 1070 (I'm trying to get ahold of one of the new RTXs, but it's a rather impossible task), but it runs the game in VR. However, I would like to optimise it's performance. The main issue I'm having is that the cockpit labels are barely readeable, and I was wondering if I could improve the cockpit resolution, even if it meant lowering the exterior resolution or other features like clouds or smoke.

I attach my current settings.

Thank you

Well first off Textures effect the cockpit labels clarity., try High.. turn terrain textures Off. put visibility range to med or low, turn shadows to med .. MSAA is a killer too try turning that off.. res of cockpit displays try lower.. then get fpsVR and run that it is a frame counter you can get from steam and note your CPU Frametimes.. if they are above 20 try reducing settings but if it is in the teens you probally can turn a few things back up..

There is NO Magic Setting to make it work for all it takes Patience and testing to get a Good balance.. and everybody is different so what is good for me you may not like it is all down too personal Preference.. 🙂

You could also check out VR4DCS.com for some tweaks to Windows and such plus the Keygetys shader mod will help..

I tried that and saw now significant difference 😞

I guess I'll have to wait until I manage to get one of the newest GPUs.

Is there a way to bind the VR zoom to a button in the joystick? apparently, in VR, the reguar zoom that I had bound to a potentiomenter in the throttle is disabled, and only the VR zoom works, which is one of the nunchucks button. Obviously, I barely use them while playing, but I would still like to have the option of zooming close at hand. Can that be done?

Thank you

The two VR zoom levels in the UI layer of controller setup you can bind to buttons on HOTAS.

Same with VR Re-center, and Mouse functions. Can be bound to buttons.

Be aware this is global setting and not plane specific.

Hello, fellow Q2 user here.

One thing to note is that the Q2 is very sensitive to eye placement within the headset-be sure you’re aligned properly to the lenses.

For gauge readability, pixel density (in the VR menu) is crucial-but it’s also very taxing on the PC/frame rates.

By "in the VR menu" you mean in the SteamVR menu, right? because I can't see anything close to that in the Oculus menu. I tried what's in the video above, but:

1- I can't have it only for DCS, because mine is a stand-alone version and I don't have it in the SteamVR apps list

2- Not sure if it was that, but it was a horrible experience. I think my GTX 1070 can't handle that.

@Assamita Pixel Density is the VR menu in DCS. I also use stand-alone DCS and a Q2 w/Oculus software.

I am using a 2070 Max-Q (power limited laptop version), so I doubt that your 1070 can’t handle it.

Hi. I finally got my new rig, which contains a Ryzen 7 3800X and a EVGA 3070 XC3 Ultra. I believe I can push the settings up quite some with this card. What graphics settings do you think I should use for this rig?

Thank you
