upyr1 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I was wodneirng if DCS will allow some one to laz a target for an other player or AI aircraft or have an AI unit laz a target for you? IMHO this would rock.
GGTharos Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Maybe when DCS releases an aircraft that is capable of using buddy lasing ... :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
CAT_101st Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Not with the Black shark. The system used on the KA-50 is a beam riding missle. So no buddy lasing till the A-10 or AH-64 releas..:book: Home built PC Win 10 Pro 64bit, MB ASUS Z170 WS, 6700K, EVGA 1080Ti Hybrid, 32GB DDR4 3200, Thermaltake 120x360 RAD, Custom built A-10C sim pit, TM WARTHOG HOTAS, Cougar MFD's, 3D printed UFC and Saitek rudders. ThunderChief Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Is the laser beam modelled to that extend that if to Ka-50 lase to targets in that way that their laserbeams cross each other it might have an effect on the missles?
Weta43 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 If you try shining two torch beams across each other - you'll notice that they don't have any effect on each other - so in the unlikely event that 2 laser beams cross, this will only pose a problem if the missiles actually hit each other en route, Cheers.
DarkWanderer Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) this will only pose a problem if the missiles actually hit each other en route, I think, he's about acquisition of other helicopter's guidance beam. E.G. when two 50's, flying in a close formation, shoot at one target. Shkval rasters may intersect in this situation. Edited August 23, 2008 by DarkWanderer You want the best? Here i am...
CAT_101st Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 if 2 KA 50 are firing on the same target the beams wont cross they will meat at the target no problem. now if 2 ka 50s are close enough to cross beams that will afect the missle you have more problems than you know about. GGTharos Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Yeah. Just remember, if someone asks 'are you a god?' you answer yes :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
joey45 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Yeah. Just remember, if someone asks 'are you a god?' you answer yes :D "why don't you pull the trigger and find out" The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. CAT_101st, this may be a revelation for you, but Vikhr missile has sensor on back, not in front. And it's guided not by a single beam, but by a complex configuration of multiple ones. This configurations can intersect. Edited August 24, 2008 by DarkWanderer You want the best? Here i am...
Weta43 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The guidance laser effetively forms a narrow cone. The missile stays inside the cone & the sensor looks back, not sideways. If you lined up fairly closely behind another Ka-50 & shot, maybe the cones would overlap & the sensors become confused, but if the cones cross at a reasonable angle - then as far as I can see the only way they're going to interfere is if the missiles phsically collide. Cheers.
