RvETito Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I just read that the two planes have returned to their home, Engels AB, after night midair refueling over Norwegian Sea. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Shaman Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Did the Russian pilots need to reset their on-board avionics when Tu-160 crossed 180° longitude? ;) 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
GGTharos Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Did they manage to have more than three waypoints in their nav system? ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Vekkinho Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Did they manage to have more than three waypoints in their nav system? ;) No they steer by the stars! :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Force_Feedback Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) Do they also meaure speed by letting go a piece of rope and counting the amount of knots going through the fingers? I don't have any knowledge on the systems of the Tu-160, and about the Tu-22M3 'reconaissance' plane, well, a Buk SAM can shoot it down. If only you guys could understand Russian and tried watching their "Vesti" (News, channel is called "Russia") site, Fox News is heaven on earth compared to that :noexpression:. Boberro Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) Do they also meaure speed by letting go a piece of rope and counting the amount of knots going through the fingers? Hehe they have metric systems, still don't know why they use it if all world use imperial :) I don't have any knowledge on the systems of the Tu-160, and about the Tu-22M3 'reconaissance' plane, well, a Buk SAM can shoot it down. Well every plane can be shoot down, it isn't something new, or maybe I don't know something heh ;) Did they manage to have more than three waypoints in their nav system? ;) Better prepare for... you know what in BS, this day is closer and closer, than say funny things :P Edited September 22, 2008 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Namenlos Ein Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) http://www.kommersant.com/p-13327/r_500/Tu-160_Latin_America_flight/ The United States has cautioned Russia not to repeat the Tu-160 expedition to Western Hemisphere.http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2008/09/110488.htmSECRETARY RICE: Let me just make one thing very clear. A few aging, anarchic, Blackjack bombers flying along the Venezuelan coast is not going to change the balance of power in the Western Hemisphere, and I think the Russians know that. What exactly she means under 'anarchic'? Or it was misprinted 'archaic'? http://www.aviationgraphic.com/sparta/index.php?pg=search&au=737 Edited October 6, 2008 by Namenlos Ein
nscode Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The "aging" bit is actually the funny bit. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.

Namenlos Ein Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) That is the statement for naive and uneducated (in military equipment tems) general public. And what a general public can imagine after the words 'anarchic, Blackjack bombers'? Something like that, perhaps? http://www.teachwithmovies.org/guides/russians-are-coming-DVDcover.jpg http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=42647&d=1202090043 Edited October 6, 2008 by Namenlos Ein
