Hey, I loved the campaign!
I'm currently on last mission, and after ascepting second task (RPG and mortar team) and destroying it, nothing happens. I leveled outpost and all infantry too for a good measure, and dropped another GBU on already dead mortars, just to be sure. I then told Ronnie to attack it, it didn't help. After like 15 minutes I had to quit the mission... Any idea what can be wrong? I talked tiwh JTAC on 2 preset freq on FM, if that helps, and he answered to me prior to the attack, but after clearing me to attack he disapppeared. I wasn't hit either, I checked the logs.
I want to finish the mission, but do not want to get stuck again not knowing what to do.

Conditions for completion of this task is to have killed 3 of the 4 highlighted target units (see pic below) + be on the same radio freq you received the task on (VHF FM 38.7).  If you are attacking the target yourself you also need to have selected that option from the F10 menu, if the Ronnie attack option was still present it sounds like you didn't do this as selecting either self/flight removes all the options.

Hope that helps!

I tried it once more today, and it was blocker again. Also you misremember, you still have option to task Ronnie to attack even if you decided to attack yourself.
I have a video, hope that helps:

It is a bummer that it happened in the last mission, many previous missions worked flawlessly 😞

Everything looks ok in the video, can't see any problems with anything your doing.  But just ran some tests my end and everything worked perfectly, put a bomb in the middle of them and the comms came on straight away.  Only thing I can think of is that for some reason your system isn't detecting a kill on the target units, are you running any mods?  These sometimes have unforeseen consequences.

No I don't have any mods and never installed them. Well, it's DCS being DCS, I guess.

Anyway that's the second your campaign I finished, with first being Kerman, and I really liked both of them. Thank you for what you are doing, I hope you'll finish your new campaign for harrier!

Mission 6, played it once through and got hit and lost VHF AM and TGP, so I decided to quit and restart the mission.  2nd time around, when I pulled up to the runway ready to takeoff, I could not get the Com F10 menu to show up and allow me to request takeoff.  I took an airfield tour and tried taxiing around the whole runway and taxiway again, trying to hit a trigger zone maybe?  Nothing.  Took off and got yelled at by ATC.  Exited, came back, same thing.  Is there some bug when you try to replay a mission?

Just to confirm:

  • Radio was set to 125.7.  I tried manual tuning as well as using preset 1.
  • I have been using ONLY the F10 comm menu for all missions so far.  I do not use any DCS radio whatsoever.
  • I did successfully request startup and taxi prior to moving, as always.
  • I didn't have any issues with ATC comms on the first attempt where I made it to the target area.
  • If there's a trigger zone at the runway threshold, how big is it?  I tried pulling up and stopping at different distances to the hold-short line.  I was never able to get the F10 menu to appear to allow me to request takeoff.  I only saw the game F1 and F2 menus to talk to DCS ATC, but I did not use those... well, I did eventually try to when I ran out of options, but still no luck.

My thoughts are that maybe I broke something in the script by exiting the mission abruptly?

Could it be timing related?  I cannot possibly start up and get INS aligned before my wingmen are already airborne.  I suppose I can try to taxi while it aligns.  Maybe a timer is expiring and I am missing my takeoff window?  I'm ready at runway 27 threshold about 2 minutes after everyone has already departed.

Just trying to understand how the triggers and/or scripts are working here so I can troubleshoot in the future.

Only thing I haven't tried yet, before typing this, is fully exiting DCS and restarting my PC. It's late, so I'm shutting down for the night and will keep my fingers crossed that the tower controller is alive and well when I resume another day.

Thank you.

No, restarting the mission shouldn't have any effect as far as I know, nothing should change (at least I would hope not!).

For takeoff clearance option to be added the conditions are 'request taxi+10sec'  AND be in one of the takeoff zones shown below.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. Tried this again last night and didn’t do anything differently and it worked.  No clue why, and no clue how to reproduce it.  Oh well.  It was a GREAT mission!

Just one of them DCS things I guess!  Glad you enjoyed 🙂

Hi, love the campaign and this is my second play through. I'm having the same issue as Fedduk. I attack the mortar position and all is destroyed but the mission doesn't progress. I ask Ronnie to attack and they complete their attack run and reform on me with the mission still not progressing. All visible targets including the outpost are destroyed as I dropped 2 more gbu trying to make the mission progress. I don't change my FM radio frequency. I'm not running any mods and I recently ran a DCS repair.

Just wanted you to know the issue still exists even after the last DCS update. Thanks for your help.

Ok thanks, I'll take another look at it.

Still having no luck reproducing, but I've adjusted the trigger anyway to have less variables so hopefully this will help.

May this have been already reported, but in mission 4 I can't give orders to my wingman after f18s destroy the SA15s.
Also, I destroy the Silkworm Radar but first objective isn't complete, should I destroy the comm tower too?

Wingman comms should be added once the SA-15s are dead and providing the UHF radio is set to the flight freq of 260, note that as per the campaign instructions the UHF freqs should be done through the old UHF radio not the new ARC-210 radio.

To complete the Silk Worm task simply choose the option from the F10 radio menu, but for full completion kill the radar and all the launchers.

Hope that helps!

I've managed all targets alone, I stayed on F18s frequency, that's why I guess 🙂

Mission 1, A-10C II  I have my FM radio set to 46.2 and preset 1 but neither seem to allow pressing the space bar to activate whatever trigger needed to progress the mission when coming up on the range.

The A10s FM radio has been broken in the latest update I'm afraid, already reported to ED.  No workaround unfortunately so it's a case of either wait for ED to fix it rollback the update.

Gotcha, thanks. Fingers-crossed it gets resolved quickly, seems like a cool campaign

I've submitted a temporary fix to all Persian Freedom missions while we wait for the radio to be fixed.  It's not how I ideally want the missions to be but should keep things working for now.  I'll swap the missions out again to the original versions when the issue is fixed.

It will be in the next update, it's not something you can implement yourself.

The Persian Freedom fix is in today's hot fix.  I had to remove the trigger that detects the FM radio frequency to bypass the broken trigger condition so this means the safeguard against being on the wrong freq has been removed, therefore you'll need to be careful to stay on the correct freq or else you might miss comms.  Also please be aware I had to manually search through every trigger line in the campaign to find and remove the trigger condition - I can't promise I didn't miss one so please let me know if you find any point in a mission that still seems broken so I can check asap.  Last of all the fix only applies to the A-10C II version.
