Hi fellow Pilots

As the title shows, I'm just 1 month old in DCS-time.

I startet on the stable server because I love smooth running systems. But I'm also not a very patient guy 🙂 so it's bugging me, that I've to wait for the new eyecandy-cloud-stuff. I know I can't have it all but I would feel so much better if I would know how much longer I've to wait.
ok, I know, that no one, not even the ED-crew can tell me exactly when 2.7 goes stable buuuut you guys have a lot of experience. So my question is, in your experience, how long does it normaly take for a big patch like 2.7 to go live? Are we rather looking at months or weeks?

hehe, I'm impatient I know, but please help me out here 😉

thnx and you all have a great weekend and stay healthy
greetings from far away (switzerland)

Ahhh . . . Switzerland, I spend a lot of time in Montreux myself, love it (even though I’m British).

Regards your question - it could be either, weeks or months, before 2.7 progresses to stable. There really is no set time.

It will get there when it’s classed as ready by the gods of ED.

I stayed on Stable for a long time until I started playing Multiplayer. I asked Gamers on Twitch and had to find out that nobody, really nobody, flies the Stable Version but only uses the Open Beta. 🤔

I was afraid, that this would be the answer but hey, thanks anyway. I can further train my patience by waiting for the 2.7 😉

I'm glad you like switzerland. It's indeed a beautiful country. I, on the other hand, was not in the UK yet but I will one day, that's pretty sure.

I know I can't have it all

Maybe you can. If you have enough disk space, install both. If for one reason Beta goes belly up after a patch, you can still have some fun in Stable.

Make a copy of stable and put it somewhere on your computer.

Then: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/134493-the-dcs-updater-gui-utility/

And use advanced update tab to set that copy to the openbeta version and voila, you have a parallel.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

No need to thank me. The updater utility can be a bit overwhelming at first (where do i enter what to make things work) but for starters you only need 2 things:

App Settings button:

Slot # 1 & 2 build: fill in the folders so that they point to your 2 DCS installs (and give them a custom name): Both status light should be going green for each build.

Select Build (top left) you want to update to Open Beta.

Adv Updater Options:

Press the update to latest Beta version button (it will then update your selected build to Open Beta).

After this you can switch between Stable and Open Beta with the Select Build top left.

Above are the basics, DCS updater utility can do a lot more, feel free to explore...😉

I had the same question, not for the cloud stuff, but I noticed in the tickets that a lot of people talk about version 2.7.

I was curious (since a lot of people seem early adopters to technology) if not most people are on 2.7
